Hey yall, I've posted a long while back trying to rehome a trio of male pigs, and sadly, two of the three have passed, with the second going last night.
It was a rough day. Now I have a single boar left, Boris, and he should not be alone. I hope he leaves our care under happier pretenses than Lambchop and Smalls.
So, anyway, Boris. He's a PEW Texel who is about three years old and I rescued him from a backyard breeder in ND when I lived there. He's been in our home for a little over two years. He's more shy than the average guinea pig (Lambchop was always the outgoing one) but not as grumpy as he was when he came under my care. He has no medical issues. He's NOT neutered, and he's getting older, so he may have impaction issues on the way (who knows?), but nothing so far. He has WILD hair which requires frequent haircuts to keep manageable, and he has callouses on his front paws which require clipping as often as you would clip nails but they don't seem to bother him. He has no other care issues. He *might* be a night chirper (one of my piggies is (was?
) but I've never been able to figure out who), but it doesn't happen very often.
I think Boris would be a good candidate for a young boar, because he is fairly dominant.
I live in a suburb in SW Portland Oregon area, and can help transport within reasonable distance. I won't allow him to leave at least until Nov 1 because of risk of infection (RIP Smalls), but if he appears healthy afterwards, adopt at your own risk, and remember to quarantine.
