Looking For Female, Long Hair in Daytona

I'm looking for a female friend for my little Ginger... We adopted her from Petco here in Daytona... I figured adoption is the better way to aquire another cutie

would love to have another long hair piggy...

btw - Petco was great!!!! Instead of selling one to us, like you would think they would want to do, they metioned adoption so we went that route... The wife and I are very happy w/ how nice and helpful they were... They even gave us tips on her, wht she liked and so on...

Re: Looking For Female, Long Hair in Daytona

yes.... they have some in Ft Laudi., but that is 3hrs from here...

I'm looking for one up here in Central Florida...

I found a real cutie in Roanoke Va., but I wouldn't know how to get her here... Maybe you saw her on there... Fiona

I'm afraid to link on this site... it's pretty strict. I already got my photos deleted for some reason that is unknown to me...

I saw Fiona I'm looking at her right now she's adorable but what do you mean you don't know how to get her there? Do you mean you don't have anything to keep her in on the drive home? Sorry for the confusion I'm an idiot .

Hehe I really am an idiot though but anyway have you tried craigslist? Oh here's a great page on guinea pig's social lives you probably already read it but whatever just in case. There's plenty of info on intros and stuff just in case you don't know.

Thanks fluff,
I'll check Craigs List and see what they have...

I tell ya... it will suck for that first two weeks of quarantine...
I'll be dying to see them play together.

Re: Looking For Female, Long Hair in Daytona

Your welcome, yeah I know what you mean if it were me I would be going crazy but thats not really possible since I already am hehe. If you do adopt from craigslist I would take your piggie to the vet as quickly as possible since you are adopting from a person and who knows how they took care of the pig.

When you get a new pig, make sure you keep them seperate for 3 weeks of quarantine, not 2.

When you bring home a new friend for an existing guinea pig, or you get two guinea pigs from two different sources, then BEFORE you try putting them together, you need to keep them apart for two to three weeks to make sure the new guinea pig does not have any medical problems which could be transmitted to the other.

If one is sick or has any parasites or fungal infections, you'll want to treat that one first, rather than risk spreading the condition to the other guinea pig.

Quarantine means keeping the guinea pigs in two different rooms, which of course requires two separate cages. If you bought a pet store cage and have since realized it's too small, you can use the cage for quarantine until the pigs can be introduced.

You should handle the new guinea pig last. You should wash your hands after handling the guinea pig. It's a good idea to keep a smock in the room with that guinea pig. That way you have less risk of transmitting parasites or other things on your clothing.

Examine your new guinea pig very closely and carefully while in quarantine. Look for signs of mites (scratching and hair loss). Mange mites are not visible to the naked eye. Look for lice, fleas, fungus (ringworm). Look for eye or nasal discharge, excessive sneezing, wheezing, loud breathing and more. If you suspect your new guinea pig is not well, please take it to a good vet as soon as possible. Do not delay. Guinea pigs can go downhill fast.

Typical problems with pet store guinea pigs are URIs (Upper Respiratory Infections), mange mites, fungal infections, scurvy, and pregnancy!
I would have typed some of that up but I'm to lazy . Oh thats from T's page on guinea pig's social lives.

Re: Looking For Female, Long Hair in Daytona

I think I missed your question I'm really tired so I keep missing things, some medical problems take longer then others to show and sometimes vets miss those problems. I think thats why isn't it PM?

Yep I guess so and I find that sexist young man sexist things don't bother me for some reason I listen to Eminem and I'm in love with him so that kind of thing dosen't offend me. It's a good thing it dosen't to because I'm running out of places to hide the bodies I mean beach balls hehe.

Re: Looking For Female, Long Hair in Daytona

Good thing you live in Florida or you would be with the other 'beach balls' and I will never get over that I love him even though I've never met him .
We should get back on topic or the mods will hit us with their mod sticks of pain. So did you find one on craigslist?

Re: Looking For Female, Long Hair in Daytona

First of all, only one mod has a "Mod Stick of Pain", and Ly isn't on right now. Second, yes, getting back on topic would be a lovely idea.
