Unhappy Well the time has come...

Last month on Aug 9th I had a stroke. We thought all was well in the beginning since I did not show any damage. Last week however, that all changed. I woke up and could not feel the left side of my body. Now I find it difficult to manage my home as well as my pets. I had also recently adopted a 10 week old Llsha Apso puppy...So I guess now I have to try to find someone to adopt my GP's. Last Saturday I was cleaning the cages and I had Feather on my left leg while I brushed out her long hair, I did not realize that she had bitten me until I saw the blood. I never felt it. I guess I was pulling her hair when I was brushing her. I have gotten use of my hands, arms, legs and feet back, however it is sometimes diffucult to walk with out stumbling. Tonight I cleaned the cages again and I sat in the floor and cried. I had not spent anytime with my GP's in the past week. They were just getting used to me and now they are all scared again. I also have the 2 dogs, the hamster, the bird and the fish. I was able to find the cats a home already. They hamster, the fish and the puppy will go to my daughter in GA but she will not take the GP's since she is having another baby and my granddaughter is almost 1. I am keeping my Yorkie as I have had him for 9 years and the bird is not much problem. I feel so terribly bad. I have another MRI scheduled for this Friday and I am suppse to see Neurology on Monday. My husband is stationed in VA and I live alone here in SATX. HE said he might can get compassianatley reasigned here since the military has better docs at Ft. Sam Houston. Well I guess if you know of some one in my area who might want to adopt my babies. I have 4. 3 girls and 1 boy.

Re: Well the time has come...

I am so sorry, and I know how you feel with all that.... hospitalization, specialists, MRI's and other tests, etc. I am ill, too, but I am so thankful that I am able to live with my mom who is willing to help with animal care when I am bad off. I'm just throwing this out there, but if your husband is able to be relocated back to where you are, would he maybe be able to help out with the animals, like cage cleaning and such, sometimes? If he'd be able to help out, maybe you could keep your babies? Just a thought, because I really feel for you, just trying to think of a way for you to be able to keep them, that's all. If that's not an option, than my heart goes out to you, I am so sorry. Your heart must really be hurting right now. But you can come and vent to the wonderful people here on this board any time.

I live in far northeastern Dallas, and would absolutely love to drive down and adopt your babies, but unfortunately I already have 2 boars in my very tiny bedroom, and I am unable to drive and my mother says no more pets right now. But please know that if I could, I would love to have given them a loving home.

Re: Well the time has come...

Thanks all for your responses. My husband did not want me to get them to start with, but since we have been seperated for nearly 2 years and thinking of divorcing I did not care what he thought. Its only been in the past 3 months that he has said he would like to continue to work on our marriage and even asked if I would move to VA. I told him no, becuase he said I would have to give up my GP's and some of my other pets (bird--he hates birds) and I said I would stay right where I am. Now, it seems as if he may get his way. He might change his mind once he gets here, if he actually does what he says he will. If not, then I will figure out what to do. My son said he would take them but he lives in a dorm and is not sure if he can have them in the dorm room. I think my biggest obsitacal right now is cage cleaning, what used to take me an hour, took me over 3 hours. I kept getting tired and having to sit down. The other thing that bothers me is that they are not being played with all the time like they used to be. I try to go in there and spend at least 30 minutes at each feeding but sometimes I am just soooo tried that its all I can do to just feed them and go lay back down. And right now I still have the others to take care of. My daugther is comming to get the puppy, the hamster and the fish soon.

I guess everything will work out like its suppose to.

Re: Well the time has come...

My heart goes out to you. This has got to be painful beyond words for you.

I know that when I am sick and too tired to hold my pets, it can do both them and me a world of good if I simply lie down or sit next to them. They are comforted by the presence of the person they trust, and consider it a kind of attention. While you are working on finding a home for your little ones, may I suggest setting up a comfy spot right next to their cage, so you can rest and be near them? Alternatively, you could move them into your bedroom if they won't disturb your sleep too much.

Re: Well the time has come...

Please accept a virtual hug, for all your pain, from me.

I think TrekkiePiggies has a wonderful idea, just sit with them, and they'll know your there. I'm sure they love you, and the more you can be with them, the better for them and you!
