Looking for piggies in Indy

I'm a disabled individual that spends a lot of time at home. When I do go out, its really to school and thats only three times a week. With my epilepsy it helps to cuddle, pet, and play with something on a regular basis.

While I have had piggies in the past, I will be the first to admit I didn't know what I was doing...but I learned my lesson. After loads of research, I think that I may be able to offer a good home for some little fellows or gals. I want a pair and want to adopt...but here is the issue...I take a bus and busses and piggies don't get along too well.

My bedroom is ferretproof and would be safe for daily piggie exploration as well, and its not a little room. I have the stuff to construct a CC cage, all I need is a hay feeder and a new water bottle, but I can get those easy. I want to get a kiddie pool and convert it into a run when my room is unavailble or in use by ferrets or visiting guests.

We have two cats that have learned to love fuzzies well. One even hangs out in the ferrets cage from time to time, the other just likes to watch.

My roommate is committed to this as well, so on days when my dissabillity gets in the way she can take care of them and look after them for me. As a cullinary student, my roommie always has a supply of fresh vegies in the house as well. I really think this will work out well, and would like to help rehome any piggies that may need it.

Thanks loads
Sara

Re: Looking for piggies in Indy

I really do hope you find one. Also you can try looking up on petfinder or your local newspaper to see if your local(if there a local) shelter may have some. Good luck though.

-Here are some young boars not sure how far away the rescue is but here they are http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...tpost&p=305270 .

I'm going to crosspost this on another forum for you to see if we can get you set up with a rescuer.

Talking Re: Looking for piggies in Indy

I am absolutly tickled. I found a small animal rescue in Indianpolis. I didn't even know one existed and she didn't know about this site. She had to boars that she is going to hold on to for me who are nameless at the moment. She said one looks like he has a horribley bad hair day and the other is a patchwork of color, but shorthair.

They are described as lovers and sweethearts. She has two females that may be preggers, but she doesn't know just yet. I gave her the info on the forum, so maybe some good matches can be made and we can hope for non preggie piggie girls.

Thanks for the crosspost. and if this match doesn't work out (I hope it does though) I'll be back here to look.

Hugs to all,

Sara and a couple of nameless boys...

Re: Looking for piggies in Indy

No it wasn't. Its a small shelter called A Critter's Chance. Its run by a very nice woman who seems to care a lot for the animals. The website doesn't have much on it, so you kinda have to take a leap of faith and give her a call.

Re: Looking for piggies in Indy

Hi I just saw you post and there is a woman who may have to give up 9 of her guinea pigs. She is in Indiana as well. Go to this link and she explains her story. She is not 100% sure she may have to give them up but it's a big possibility

I don't know exactly how you can contact her if you do not have a myspace but if you want you can contact me and I can let her know

Re: Looking for piggies in Indy

Thanks for telling me about her. I got in touch with her and is quite certain the pigs and bunny will be needing new homes. With any luck I will be ably to take the three girls. Im not entirely sure at the moment.

My mom is coming down from the chicago area and going right through north Indy, so If I can get her and her friend to stop and pick them up, that would be great. I need to get in touch with her and give her the board adress so homes for these lovely pigs can be found asap.

She sounds like she loves her pigs so much. poor girl.

The rescue fell through. No returns on my phone calls or anything.
