Yes I know how to sex piggies...strange that no one at Jeff feed would know. Are you certain it's a rescue pig? Jeff feed also sells G.P.s sometimes. If it came from the rescue it should have paperwork on it's cage stating the sex, age, etc... Did you manage to get in contact with anyone from the LASPCA? They may have more piggies. I know that they are overrun with Rabbits right now and while they didn't get any G.P.s in with the batch of rabbits I have noticed more and more G.P.s being available through them...that's where I got my girls. You may also want to call Dr. Rich at the West Esplanade Vet. Clinic. (504) 455-6386. He sometimes shelters rabbits for June Booth until adotion and he may have some G.P.s who need homes...or at least know of where some are. Elly |

| Re: Looking for Female/Neutered Male in South Louisiana Area I might have found one. Do yall think it would be unwise to adopt a pregnant female? |

I don’t mean to be a downer but these are things that must be considered. If you are up to the challenge emotionally and financially then by all means get the pregnant girl. Most likely the experience will be a joy and not a burden. If you are still looking I found this link for you on Pet Finder. The Bunny Rescue has a female piggie. You may want to drop them a line. http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?act...=0&tmpl=&stat= Elly |

| Re: Looking for Female/Neutered Male in South Louisiana Area I have found a piggie on the Northshore. The # is 985-727-2849 Unfortunately the lady doesn't know if it's a girl or a boy. I am going to try to run down to the LASPCA now to have a look in person. Probably a REALLY bad idea as I will most likely come home with yet another animal but I will try to just look for Guinea pigs and let you know if I find anything. I have spoken to Dr. Rich...with no luck. The same can be said for June Booth (rabbit rescue). I also tracked down the New Orleans Guinea Pig rescue which has been closed for over a year now. The lady that ran it got cancer (beat it and is well now) but while she was sick she had to close the rescue and hasn't started back up again yet. This is getting ridiculous! When I rescued my girls we just went out to the shelter and there they were. No looking was necessary. I know we can find a piggie somewhere. I am going to post this same post under the "pet store piggies" in "Cavy Chat" to make sure you see it. Please let's look a little longer before you give up and buy. Elly |

| Re: Looking for Female/Neutered Male in South Louisiana Area This is a repeat posting from "Pet Store Piggie" - sorry HOLD EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I just got a call back from Melinda at West Esplanade Vet Clinic. They have in there a male GP that was just neutered yesterday! He is available for adoption and they would very much like to have you call them. This solves the problem of your parents not wanting to get a boar and get him neutered...he’s already neutered. Please give them a call. They are expecting you and can’t wait to arrange a time for you to come out and meet him. West Esplanade Vet Clinic (504) 455-6386 Elly |

| Re: Looking for Female/Neutered Male in South Louisiana Area She said she thinks its a male. I figure someone is more likely to mistake a male for a female then the other way round, so I will just go with the neutered buddy and wait patiently to fill the other void or two with females. |
