Craigslist...Florida

I saw these two girls on craigslist quite some time ago. I just saw they were reposted.
2 Guinea Pig Females With cage, and ALL Supplies!
They are cuties for sure! I think she was originally asking a higher priced rehoming fee, but has since made it negotible. If I hadn't already gotten my two boys I would snatch these two up.

I just found three more...
3 guinea pigs need a good home
If anyone is interested.

Wow...
There must be some rush on getting rid of guinea pigs in my area.
guinea pig
That last one concerns me...I would be worried someone may purchase it for snake food. I knew somoene who used to get rabbits for their snake and they cost more than 10 dollars sometimes.

When I was looking for guinea pigs there were like none out there to be found. Not in shelters, vets offices, craigslist anywhere. Now they are everywhere!

That's why you should always be patient instead of running to the pet store. People usually dump their pets before summer, or early summer.

Great way to jump to conclusions. If you weren't then I retract my comment. I got my boys off of Craigslist. I contacted shelters around me for a month or two and never found anything. I found two boys on craigslist, a one and two year old. The woman was going to take them to animal services b/c her son got tired of them, but put them on craigslist instead. I just think it's so typical that when I was looking I wanted females. I searched and searched and searched for females for adoption. At the time this was the ONLY listing on craigslist for guinea pigs, and I just fell in love with them. Now there are quite a few listings. BUT I am more than happy to have my boys.

That's the same one I was worried about. At least the females owner appears educated (ie with cage size and such), but that last boy worries me. If I could take in another one I would, but I can't, so I figured I would post it here incase someone knows someone in the area.

H4A, I don't think Rabbitsncavyluv meant you personally. I read it as You as in We and the rest of the World should wait before running to the pet store. If I'm wrong then, yeah great way to jump to conclusions. And thanks for posting it. Hopefully someone is adopting that little boy right now & building a huge new cage.

The first thing i though it someone is going to go in there and be like $15 dollars for a guinea pig AND a cage?! Wow, and buy up both like it's something great.

I looked at pets stores at first, being unaware. We noticed a trend. In every pet store they were very confused about sex and knew NOTHING about the animals, and they all had crusty skin behind their ears. My husband said "there is no way we're getting one from any of these places". Then I foudn this website. So I started trying shelters/rescues, and my dad sent me the link to craigslist.

Re: Craigslist...Florida

Sounds like you have a couple of good men in your life. Unfortunately, I did not have a clue there were any alternatives to pet stores and got one sick & one pregnant.

I do wish they were not selling the "cage" as it gives people the false impression that it's the right way to keep a piggy. Just feel good that you have made an attempt to get him a more knowledgeable owner.

Re: Craigslist...Florida

I meant in general. Sorry.

Like if people are looking for a specific breed or sex, someone is usually looking to dump theirs or have an accidental litter or whatever. Even if you have to do leg work or drive a bit.
