Proper adoption techniques

Hello, I have two piggies that need a home, we are moving and I can not take them with me. Please lead me to the proper place to put them up for adoption, I do not know where to go. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Proper adoption techniques

I moved your thread to the adoptables part of the forum. Please post more info, pictures and what the pigs will come with. Also list them in the classified forum at Guinea Pig Home - Home

Re: Proper adoption techniques

Where in Georgia do you live? Have you tried searching online? You could can go to "petfinder.com" and put your zip code/city in the search for adoptables, and a list of places will show up to the left of the pets in the order of how close they are to you. If there is nothing sufficiently close to you, try posting an ad in your local newspaper. I think you can post animals up for adoption on craigslist as well.
When using these resources it's always a good idea to include a picture and some information about your piggies' personalities, age, gender, etc. If you do not need your cage equipment anymore you might want to give that away to make sure they are well taken care of. I wouldn't hesitate to ask questions about the potential adopter's knowledge of and experience with guinea pigs to make sure it is a good fit and that they will be well cared for.
Good luck! I would love to take them in, but I live in New York.

Re: Proper adoption techniques

Before putting them up for adoption in a shelter you should try to find them a new owner yourself if that fails look for a guinea pig rescue or if you can find one a non kill shelter.
