How do I know if my guinea pig wants/needs a friend? I have found a female guinea pig as a companion for my guinea pig Dixie at a local guinea pig rescue. I am leerie however, because I am not sure if Dixie wants a friend. She seems to be doing fine but is still timid around me even though I got her about 2 months ago. |

On the whole, guinea pigs crave guinea pig company. Just like humans, most need to have companionship and company and to communicate with fellow humans . I don't suppose you'll really know how happy Dixie could be with a friend - until you try! You will almost certainly notice a huge difference in her character and behaviour once she has fellow guinea friendship! Read this link - then go and get her! http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm |
