Foster Parents In Texas

Does anyone know of any foster groups in/around Austin, Texas?
I have done the responsible thing of posting on numerous sites about finding my guineas a new home and nothing is panning out.

I know that some places have a system where you take them to a certain point then someone else takes them somewhere else, etc. until they reach their destination.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Foster Parents In Texas

I'm finding it very upsetting that I'm trying to do the right thing and find my guinea pigs a competent home and no one seems to want to help. I have messaged a moderator on here, with no reply, I've emailed the shelter here in Austin about other resources to exhause in order to find them a good home, etc. And no one wants to get back to me.
I have heard horror stories, especially on this board, about how cruel people can be by just throwing out their pets, literally, but I can now understand how you just seem to reach a limit with those people who say you have to do the right thing but they aren't there to help you when you're trying.

Re: Foster Parents In Texas

I haven't responded until now because I honestly don't know how to help...I'm in Canada and not part of any rescues. I'm sorry that this is upsetting you. Sometimes it just takes a little time for people to get back to you on the board.

I hope you can find some help soon for your piggies.
Good Luck with it all!
Lynn

Re: Foster Parents In Texas

I only know of only Texas Rustlers: Guinea Lynx :: US Rescue Organizations

Have you looked on petfinder?

This rescue is in Austin. Looks like they do guinea pigs: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/TX727.html

There are animal rescue transport forums on yahoo groups. There is one specifically for guinea pigs. There is a bunderground group for rabbits and a few others. They may be able to help but you have to have a specific destination i.e. foster or permanent home lined up for them already.

Have you posted on Guinea Pig Home - Home ?

Posting flyers in vet offices and pet supply places may get you a few calls. You'd have to screen them though. Posting descriptions, with their names, and photos often helps.

I'm sorry you're having problems, but there is a pet overpopulation problem. It's hard finding a new good home for any pet. It can take 3-4 months at least.
