Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have a 4 month female Dixie, and want to get her a friend. I have been looking on petfinder almost everyday. There aren't any females I'd be interested in adopting within 40 mins. of where I live. However, there are a lot of males. Would it be easier to just adopt a male and get him neutered? Would a nuetered male and female get along better than a female and female? |

Two females together or a neutered male and a female would do most likely ok. It would be easier getting another female so you wouldn't have to worry about cost and everything. Just make sure if you get a male when you get him neutered you have a vet that knows what he is doing. |

It really depends on the pig. You need to find a good vet, and often the surgery isn't cheap. |

Are you close enough to go to a rescue and take a look? Sometimes it's very hard to tell who you're really interested in until you go look. Often they have piggies that are not posted yet. I looked at your other posts and it sounds like you're somewhere in western New York, right? Did you see the thread about 150 + piggies? Are you close to Pennsylvania? I have a female named Dixie, too. My Dixie is a tri-colored short hair with a crest. |

Yes I am in western ny. Ummm... I'm pretty close, but it would be better to get my mom to drive somewhere closer. Life Long Tails and Pet Connection often have guinea pigs so I'm gonna call. That's really funny you have a guinea pig named Dixie! Mine is a tri-colored abbysian. I havn't gotten a good pigture yet, but her hair flips in the front over her face and it's just adorable . I thought she looked just like a Dixie. |

Seagirl, I live in North East Pa and I am wondering if you knew of any adoptables or rescues in NEPA? Thanks |

Hi Mr.Jiggles, I don't know of rescues in your area but if you check under the adoptables category, you should be able to find the 150 piggies thread. Also try petfinder.com. You can just put in your zip code & petfinder will list what is closest. Then click on the name of the rescue attached to the piggy ad. I'm in CT which is not really close so I really don't know more. |
