Rescues in my area?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasn't sure where to put it.

Okay, there has to be something wrong with the way I'm searching for small animal rescues, I can't find any that are less than 4 hours away from me! And that long of a drive isn't acceptable when it comes to piggies for my mom, says its a waste of gas since I already have 3. She thinks that 3 is enough. Silly mommy. But any who, I was just wondering if anyone had some links to rescue searchers or if somebody could search for some rescues in North-NORTH-Western-WESTERN(really western and north hehe) Washington (US). The state, not capital. Even if I can't get a piggier now, it will be nice to know where I can find some pigs up for adoption in the future.

Thank youuu. x3
Lindsey

Re: Rescues in my area?

There are lots of shelters and there's a rescue in Seattle. How far are you from there?

Re: Rescues in my area?

I'm way up in Whidbey Island, Seattle is too far for my mom to drive to see some pigs that I may or may not like. =/ I'm looking for something a little closer to home.

Whidbey Animals' Improvement Foundation (WAIF) - Whidbey Island, Washington

Hope this helps a little. If you want a resced guinea pig, you may have to drive a while. That's the beauty of a rescued animal. Why don't you save up money and pay for the gas? Would that work?

You can also check craigslist: san francisco bay area classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

Re: Rescues in my area?

This is probably a dumb suggestion since you have probably looked already, but have you checked out petfinder. That's usually a good place to find shelters. That's where I found the one I used.

Re: Rescues in my area?

Petfind has a rescue with some great looking piggies that is 120 miles away in Auburn. Is that doable for you & your Mom? Estimated time per mapquest was 2 hours, 19 minutes. The name is Foggy Creek Cavy rescue. email is foggycreekcavyrescue@yahoo.com 259-804-0709. They are on petfinder.com. You're right, silly Mommy, nobody can get along with ONLY three piggies! Good luck!

Re: Rescues in my area?

That is the way it is in my little town. I went on a 10 hour round trip across the state to get one of mine. They were going to kill it because is had a deformity. 4 hours is not bad but I would go to 2 states to get one. I just love them that much. call me crazy my husband does.

Re: Rescues in my area?

I'm driving 3.5 hours this weekend so I can adopt one....I don't think you're crazy....My fiance thinks I'm crazy because I have a commitment on saturday afternoon so I plan on leaving at 5am so I can get back in time....of course, at 5am there won't be any traffic...I can turn up the tunes and sip my coffee on the way up there....

Re: Rescues in my area?

They are worth it, believe me! They give me and my family so much in return. One grooms us constantly the other just so happy that he wheeks while sitting in my lap and another wheeks to be constantly held. . My husband loves it, he just wont say it out loud. .

Re: Rescues in my area?

Whidbey island is only like 2.5 hours from here. I'll actually be making the drive in a few weeks when one of my friends gets back from Iraq (I'll be going to Anacortes). If you need help with transport, I may be able to help out.

I don't know when he'll be back so dates are tentative.

Re: Rescues in my area?

Have you checked the local shelters?

Also, SARS might be able to help. They're based in Vancouver, B.C., but I've heard of them running the occasional animal to someone in WA to get them a good home.
