Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hey everyone! Since we adopted Keira, Jypsy, Leo, and Cole.. We knew we would have to adopt them out sometime in the future. Keira and Jyspy are looking for homes together. They are both approx. 5 years old, and really sweet. Both are female and spayed.. They both know a bunch of commands and tricks such as sit, lay down, bow, give paw.. etc.. They also behave when being walked on a leash. Keira: ![]() Jyspy: ![]() ![]() Leo and Cole were both adopted from the same shelter as Keira and Jyspy, last year. They are brothers and they are both neutered. They get along well with other dogs for the most part. The only time they need to be separated is when it is time to eat. They are pretty well behaved, but have a few things that need working on (sit, stay.. etc) They know how to do two tricks flawlessly (get in the chair- which is a kid chair that is theirs, and give paw) They are about 1 and 1/2 years old. They were born around Nov. 2005 Leo is the brown one and Cole is the black one.. ![]() Oh, and we live in Houston, Texas.. Although we would probably be able to meet other people half way if needed. |

Oh Jypsy looks like my Chud (RIP). I miss him. He was so awesome. I am pretty close but we are at our limit on animals. I hope you find a good home for them. |

Thanks for posting. If you (or anyone else here) can think of anyone you know that might want to adopt, that would give them a good home, please direct them here or to my email- wicked.pixi@yahoo.com |

The people in PA have decided not to take Keira and Jypsy so they are still looking for a home. I believe I might have found a home for Cole and Leo. The good news is it is only 40 mins away. The bad news, she isn't sure if she is able to adopt both of them (and they aren't being separated) |

Neither of the people are able to take the dogs. Pa turnes out to be just too far. We really want someone in Tx to adopt them, unless we know the people. The other lady intrested in Cole and Leo has a 2 year old, and is moving to LA so that is not gonna work for us either.. I just got a message from this person.. It sounds kida fishy.. It was titled "Dog Wanted" The message said: Hello I would like to adopt your dog, you can call me collect at (# here) or my cell (#2 here), I will make him or her an excelent home. Does that sound fishy to anyone but me? I want to know if I am being paranoid or not.. |

It does not sound good to me, but I am not sure who would be good enough for my dogs , why will the lady with a 2 yr old not be good, are the dogs not good with kids? If so make sure you say that in the ad. |

I will have my mom call them when she gets home. I looked up the phone number and it is in GA! I specified Tx, so I don't even know why he responded.. The dogs would probably be good with children, athough do have a habit of jumping, so they would need some training. The problem is my mom doesn't want them going anywhere but Tx. |

Be careful about those sort of generic responses. Sometimes it is a scammer offering to give you a huge amount for 'expenses' of sending the dogs to them, and you are to send the extra amount either to a 3rd party person who is supposed to pick up the pets and deliver them, or back to them for some reason. By the time the bank figures out it's a bogus money order or check, you've already wired the funds to the other party and you are out the amount you sent. Be very wary if anyone offers to give you a large sum of money "for your trouble" especially if it entails sending part of the money to a 'shipper' or someone else via wire. |

Thank you! I wouldn't send them to anyone I did not meet in person. I also am not adopting them out to anyone without them first making out an adoption application type thing that has the name of their vet, and such.. I am also going to make sure I have in writing that if they for any reason have to give the dogs up they will automatically contact us and arrange for us to come and pick them up. The only reason I am even adopting them out, is to give them a forever home with someone who will spoil them rotton.. |

do you hav a vet office that can let you post them there? Maybe talk tto the Vets and see if anyone rcently has been looking for a certain type of pet. Maybe set them up with their own myspace account that you can list movies and pictures and long stories about them. That way if you do put an ad somewhere people can look on the myspace account and get alot of information and the pictures and that before calling you. soetimes that weeds ot the ones that are NOT serious about them. And might make someone fall for them easily when they see loadsfo pics. Just keep an ye out for people that aren't going to be great parents to them. Have a take back clause in it also so you can take them back if it doesn't work out for the dogs. and keep a check out on them. good luck with them. they look like nice healthy , happy dogs. And great for keeping them bonded! ( for adoptions ) |

Oh, I wish I could get Keira and Jyspy! They would fit in great with my "pack" and my older brother has been wanting a dog of his "own". But unfortunately I live in Ohio so no can do. I think they would get along great with "my" two dogs Charlez and Skyler. Also, Dickens (family's dog) Keira looks a bit like Charlez exept black and Jyspy looks a bit husky-ish like Sky. ![]() (please excuse the shadeless lamp I took it off so there was more light (the night before) and messy unmade bed) I definetely hope you find great homes for all of them and keeping the pairs together! |

Also, to stop them from jumping you just ignore them and turn around. When they jump they are showing that they are dominant and when they think they are dominant that is a bad thing. You give attention when "you" want to give them attention, not have them push you around and tell you when to give it to them. They also "should" get along when eating, but this is a hard problem to fix. When they jump up though they are in control of when they get attention and they can just walk all over you. This is by all means NOT your falt though, although you play a huge part. Dogs need a leader and without one they will take over the roll. The one that is tempramental over food is the dominant one and this event should not happen. In a pack the dominant one gets to eat first no matter who caught it and they are probably growly at each other (maybe breaking into fites, I don't know I don't own them) and this is showing that they are establishing dominance. I had to fix this with my dog (Charlez) and we are still working on it. If you can't fix any of these problems don't worry, just be careful and tell the adopters their issues. by the way I learned all this from the book "Ceasar's Way" Last edited by FuzzButtLover; 02-26-07 at 11:38 am. |

Thanks for the info Fuzz! I actually watch that show, and it has a lot of great info. For the jumping, Leo and Cole actually are getting better.. They only do it when I first go into the room they are in, and then they settle down.. Im still working on having them not do it at all.. For the growling and fighting over food, the main reason is because of Falcon in the same room. He is not fixed (but is going to be VERY soon) and since Cole is the dom. dog, he finds kinda attacks Falcon.. I separate them just in case, I dont want them hurting eachother. I do know, that when I take Falcon out of the room, Leo and Cole can eat together fine. Pa_piggies- I do have a vets office, and they have a clipboard for people to post information like that. I am going to talk to my mom about taking me there sometime this week. I really dont know what I haven't thought of this earlier. Thanks very much! I am also going to see if some other vet offices by us will allow me to post in their offices as well.. The myspace account thing is a good idea also! I have one set up for all my animals. Right now, Im going to go and update it, so it will have mostly information about them (for the time being). Thanks for that idea too! Well, Im going to go check my email now, maybe someone else contacted me already! Thanks again! -Allie |
