Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

I was hoping I can put this here instead of in the the About GP page. Anyway, this is a rescue in the southcentral WI area. I just wanted to help spread the word if anyone is looking.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

MilwCavyMom, do they have a website? Have you had contact with them? You do have to be careful of ads like these because it may be a breeder. I saw this too. As far as I know, there are no other rescues in this area other than Baraboo. A lot of breeders will dump their surplus by advertising that they are a rescue.

It would be great if there were another one. We could work together. I just am suspicious about it because I've seen so many of these types of ads.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

WICharlie after I read it again I was thinking that too. Only because I hadn't heard of this rescue unless they are new or something. We could email to find out more information from them?

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

You could, but I wouldn't inquire about pigs. I would ask if they have a website. I am doubtful, since they can't even spell guinea pig correctly.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

I emailed them and asked for a website we'll see what they say. Can we flag them if they are a breeder?

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

I don't think you'd be able to flag them JUST for being breeders if you find that they are. The ad specifies adoption and doesn't say anything about charge. Being that they said they "came into rescue", they will probably know to use the term "adoption fee" if they ever say there is a price.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

Don't judge them too harshly until you get a return email with more information on their "rescue". It's possible that this is a private home trying to start a rescue of their own.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

Correct. However if it were to be a breeder that is a sneaky way to do to get around any rules by calling yourself that. And most people out there won't know the difference.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

Yeah - judging from the posts here on a regular basis about 'rescuing' pets from petstores and breeders when they actually just bought a pig, people apparently have a problem recognizing the difference between buying from a seller and adopting from a real rescue or shelter or rehome situation.

Re: Craig's List Ad-Wisconsin

I haven't gotten a reply from them. Maybe someone else complained? Or they all got homes already.
