[FONT=Century Gothic]The lady who runs the one and only small animal rescue in all of San Diego, just informed me that March is "Adopt a Guinea Pig" month!

I'm going to help her create and circulate some flyers. There are also lots of guinea pig adoption days going on during March.

I just thought I would pass it along... especially to those of you who only have one pig! (hint, hint)

WOW...isn't that actually low for her? She must be having a lot of luck placing pigs. I thought she usually had more than that.

55 may refer to the number of piggies currently on the adoptables list. This wouldn't include any moms still nursing, babies under 3 weeks old, girls on pregnancy watch, or any being treated for any medical condition- mites, UTI, URI, tooth issues etc.

The group from Perris (back yard breeder/ chicken coop) was pulled from animal control the first week in December. There were 50 in that pull. There is still about 2 weeks to go for the pregnancy watch for that group. In that group, just this week, there were 6 babies born. In the last 2 1/2 weeks there were at least a total of 15 babies born from the Perris group. None of the mothers or babies are currently on the adoptables list, but within the next month, there will most likely be over 120 piggies on the adoptables list. ( Just as an observation, the Wee Companions website almost never features all the piggies on the adoptables list.)

Anyone want to make a trip to beautiful sunny San Diego and adopt a few piggies? We have some real cuties!

Chuck- His picture on the website looks like a DMV photo

Ricochet- on the adoptables list within the next 2 weeks

Reba- also within the next 2 weeks

This cutie- born yesterday (literally)

Wow. So, I wonder if the new California animal-abuse laws will be applicable here? (You know, where it's no longer a misdemeanor, it's a felony to abuse an animal.) I wish there were laws against breeding!

Aww they're so cute! Unfortunately, were trying to give a few of the guinea pigs we already have away (My guinea pig was pregnant and I cant handle taking care of both babies) i would beg to adopt but I know my parents just wont go for it.

I would adopt some but I dont even have time for the ones I do have, wich is why im trying to rehome them.

I'm sure you'll have no prblems placing those cuties! I'll be looking at Wee companions' web site! My family doesn't have any pigs yet. We're still thinking about it, but what I've seen so far makes me think we definately need a pair! Maybe we'll head down to San Deigo from Ventura! Good Luck!

Is it adopt a guinea pig month everywhere? I would like to make flyers about it. I want to adopt a guinea pig, but I don't of anywhere around where I live (Columbia, Tennessee) that has adoptable guinea pigs.

Good question. I'm not sure if it's everywhere. That would be so neat if you made your own flyers though! (I'm also making them for Wee Companions, so maybe they'll let me send you some, if you want! I'll ask.)

As far as adoptions, I assume you've already read about Petfinder, right? That's a good place to start. Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten.. And remember, get more than one pig!!! They NEED the companionship.

And CraigsList has a website for Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville and "Tri-Cities" so I'm not sure which one Columbia is closest to. Just do a Google search for: CraigsList.
