Charlie and Moe might have to go....2 Guinea Pigs in Ontario

Well,I haven't been on here for awhile and this is hardly a good reason to come on again. But, we are getting a cat, and my parents are not interested in having guinea pigs and a cat so we are probably going to have to rehome unless something changes.
We have Charlie and Moe for a year and a couple of months and have enjoyed them very much. We will be very sad to see them go but we can at least ensure that they go to a good home. They are both males and are not neutered. They do not require any special medical attention and only had mites breifly when we first got them. Moe is very playful and fun. Charlie is playful too but would prefer to be cuddled than have floor time. They are currently living in a two story c+c cage, which we will probably be willing to include with the pigs when given away. They are used to fleece bedding.
We are located in southern ontario and are looking for a new home for the pigs close to us.
All in all they are great pets and I would recommend them to anyone offering good home, who is looking for Guinea Pigs.

I don't understand why your parents will just get rid of a pet to get another? Have you tried reasoning with them?

Re: Charlie and Moe might have to go....2 Guinea Pigs in Ontario

Usually folks there is often more then one reason that people rehome. It could be true that getting a cat is the only reason but the fact still remains that PC is still willing to go along with the rehoming. If she was really interested in keeping them she would fight to keep them and perhaps it's a fight she already made. As it stands now she's looking to rehome.

In short she has made up her mind and I doubt there is anything to be done to change it. It is in the pigs' best interests to concentrate on finding them a home more willing to make a lifelong commitment.

We will probably be keeping the pigs and getting a cat, because we are trying it out for a month first and if all goes well then we will be able to keep both. My parents want a "back up" plan though so....I do want the pigs and we are fighting to keep them and will continue to but in the mean time if there is to be any hope a back up plan is neccesary. I am not willing to go along with rehoming, I am being forced to.

I'm not sure what the problem really is. Put a lid on the cage. Close the door to the room the cage is in, so the cat can't get to them unsupervised.

Re: Charlie and Moe might have to go....2 Guinea Pigs in Ontario

Due to recent events we will for sure be needing to rehome Charlie and Moe.
We wish we could keep them but we won't be.
So, once againwe are located in Southern-Ontario,CAN., and are looking for a new home for two boars. They have not been fixed (neutered). Their ages are unknown but I'm pretty sure they are no older than two years. THey are in great condition, and do not require any special medical attention.
We are also willing to through in the two level c+c cage with accesories, fleece bedding, chamois, and 1 matress pad for the top of the cage, as well as 2 plastic covers for the bottom of the first level, for approx.30$ CAN. . They have been living on fleece, so if possible fleece bedding in their new home would be preffered.

Cool Re: Charlie and Moe might have to go....2 Guinea Pigs in Ontario

Hello,

I am in southern ontario as well. Hamilton Ont to be exact.
where exactly are you??

I have 2 male guinea pigs currently, about 4 months old, one skinny pig and one short haired pig. (2 pigs total)

I may be able to adopt your 2 pigs if you are still looking for a home.
My 2 pigs have a C&C cage right now but I would definately need to use your cage as well to ensure enough room.

Let me know if you are still needing a home.....you can email me directly if you want since i can not always check this site...lauraroad@Hotmail.com
