Boar in Dallas Area needs new home before June

It kills me to do this, but we're moving from a large place in Texas to a small place in Boston at the end of June and our finances are going to be challenged enough. *sigh* I'm getting a head-start on things in order to find the best home possible.

We've had Yoda a little more than a year and he's absolutely marvelous. A brown and white abyssinian with a super-plush coat and a very happy attitude. He constantly popcorns and love, love, loves playing with his people. He adores my parents' cats and dogs (through the cage walls anyway) and I think he'd love having another piggy to have fun with, though I'm glad with our situation now that we never managed to get him a friend. I'd like him to have one now, if possible.

He's got his own 2x4 C&C cage (black cube/white coroplast) that is raised up one-cube high above the floor for storage underneath. I made him a hay rack out of a bent grid and he has a pigloo cut out to fit him (though he prefers to sit on top of it). I've also made him a rudimentary hammock out of old fleece and he loves perching in it to watch everyone coming and going. Whoever gets him will have to provide fleece if you prefer it, though, since we've had him on Aspen since he poops a prodigious amount and I couldn't keep up with it on fleece.

If anyone would like to contact me further about this I can be reached at brat @ swbell . net or a note here. I'm going to try to get photos up as soon as possible.

Thanks so much.

Update: Some pictures of Yoda. He is the complete picture of adorableness. I wish so badly we could have him with us. This is just after cage cleaning/nail clipping time. He's having some hay and wandering around
the floor with my son.

He's a very handsome pig. Good luck finding him a new home. The pictures will definitely help. You might also want to try posting him on Guinea Pig Home - Home if you haven't already.

Update

I just wanted to update this for anyone who would be interested. Yoda went to his new home on Saturday. My sister had a friend who already had two boars and they came and picked up Yoda and his cage with their entire family in tow. The family has three kids, the youngest daughter at 12, and are experienced owners. They oohed and ahhed over Yoda and carried him home like a triumphant hero.

I've already called a few times and communicated with them about his vet, feeding schedule and personal piggie peculiarities. He's doing really well. No word yet on how the other boars are taking to him as they haven't gone so far as to introduce them all yet. But it all looks good and I'm really relieved, though we already miss him horribly.

I just wanted to say thanks to anyone and everyone who read this thread and thought of us. I appreciated the responses I got and the well wishes. Yoda's going to be an even happier pig than before, I think.
