Unhappy 2 more boys for adoption New Orleans area

I just got a call from a friend of mine that I had placed 2 male GPs with.

She just pulled from Petco 2 males in a C&C cage with fleece bedding. Petco was just giving them away to anyone who walked in the door along with the cage. My friend couldn't stand the thought of 2 pigs, who obviously were loved by an educated owner, ending up in a poor home.

I haven't seen them yet but I may be stopping by today or my friend will be emailing me a picture. From what she says they are very cute "multicolored"(probably TSW). The story she got is that the owner went away to school and the mother didn't want to care fo them so she dumped them at Petco.

They come with the cage and whatever other supplies there are and I will throw in some Oxbow food and Hay if needed. I will be prevetatively treating for mites and placing them on Guinea Pig Home - Home once I get pictures. The adopter also gets lifelong help from me and can buy Oxbow products (at cost) from me as well.

I don't think she can foster them long as she has a small condo and I am pretty much out of room myself and if I have room to foster I will be taking on Mamything's boys.

If anyone can adopt or foster these two boys please let me know.

Re: 2 more boys for adoption New Orleans area

CORRECTION- 2 GIRLS for adoption.

I met the little ones today. They are 2 very sweet and healthy girls. My friend asked me if I was sure because the Petco employee double checked for her. I just looked at her and she laughed and said "I know, I know, you're right".

I did double and triple check and compared them against my friend's 2 males. They are girls.

I have found a longer term foster home for them and may take them on myself to foster after Jan 23rd and a quarentine. The foster home would then open up again to possibly take in to foster or adopt Mamything's boys.

Here are the cuties. I estimate their age at about 2.

Estelle (broken agouti abruvian)

Chinchelle (broken silver agouti absynian)

Very cute girls. I know you will find them the perfect forever home and I am so glad that there are people out there such as your friend who take the time to make a difference for the animals in need. Kudos to her and to you for making the best out of a difficult situation. I am sure that the girls are very thankful your friend was in the "right place" at the right time.

Too bad I didn't know about this a couple weeks ago. I know someone from New Orleans who ended up buying another pig because she couldn't find a rescue. Good luck with those beautiful girls, I know you'll find them a great home!

Cute piggies. I really like the first one a lot...I wish I lived closer but way to far away. Hopefully they will find great forever homes.

In the future please let me know and have them contact me (or me them). There currently are no GP rescues in New Orleans but I can always find GPs looking for homes.

Re: 2 more boys for adoption New Orleans area

These girls now have a listing on GPH Guinea Pig Home Listings - 2 Females need home New Orleans

As a note I will probably be driving from NOLA to Orlando Florida on the 15th of Jan. If there is a home with someone I know from the forums, or someone who can be vouched for, along my route I will probably be able to transport.

Re: 2 more boys for adoption New Orleans area

In a strange twist to this story I have found the original owner, or I should say she found me.

It is a rather sad and complicated story and the pigs ended up at Petco through no fault of the original owner. Unfortunately the original owner cannot take them back and is heartbroken over what has happened to these 2 girls.

I am waiting to get permission to post the whole story.

With permission to post. A PM I got

The four were divided up and given to one girl and the other girl took the two that were recently found.

The two girls that were rescued from Petco were the ones that he had when we split and his mom gave them away to a girl but after she found out they were hard work and could be smelly. She gave them to her grandmother to take care of and the grandmother dropped them off at Petco or that is atleast what I got out of my ex. Their real names are Angie and Dusty. Angie, the brown peruvian is atleast two years old. She has a really bad hair cut in the picture, I don't know what he did to her. Dusty is a long haired abby, she also is really trimmed down and she is one year old last august. Bless their little piggy hearts for being rescued by that kind person. I don't know what to do. I can't take them, but I don't want them going back to him and possibly something else bad happening to them. I will give money and food for them to assist in finding them a home along with my two boys that you were going to help me find a home for. I wish I wasn't so allergic to them and I'm shaken to tears at how terrible this situation is.

Poor Mamy! Poor girls! I hope you can find them permanent homes for both the girls and boys. I wish I could be of more help. If I hear of anyone looking for some cuties, I'll send them your way. Good luck!

Thank goodness! I wish I was in a position to take in the girls. But I can't at this time. I'm sure you'll be able to find them a home. I know Mamy really love them and I'm sure this is breaking her heart. Thanks for helping her out!!
