60 Guinea Pigs Need Homes!

The Wee Companions Rescue in San Diego California is taking in about 60 Guinea Pigs on the 8th.
They are in desperate need of foster homes and forever homes.
I would take in some but I am at my limit.
Can anyone else help?

Re: 60 Guinea Pigs Need Homes!

How does the foster home thing work? I just take a couple and wait for them to get a home home? Do I have to find them a home?

I have no idea! I am not a part of the rescue, I am just aware of this because I adopted Cinnamon from their.
You can email them and ask.

Re: 60 Guinea Pigs Need Homes!

It depends on who you foster. If you are fostering a female on pregnancy watch, you'll foster for 70 days from intake or if babies are born, until they are 3 weeks old. Once the babies are 3 weeks old they will need to return to the rescue to be sexed. A female who has completed her pregnancy watch can be returned to the rescue and be put on the adoptable list.

A longer fostering period may be necessary to help socialize a very shy piggie.

The rescue will find homes for the piggies you foster. If you are willing to foster a pig until a home can be found, and are willing to bring the pig to adoption events, that is ideal.

If you foster, pellets, hay and bedding can be provided. (Many foster homes elect to purchase their own supplies to help decrease the costs to the rescue)

When you contact Wee Companions, let Fenella know what your level of experience is and how long you would be willing to foster. The website Wee Companions - Small Animal Rescue and Adoption lists the phone number for the rescue, but initial contact may be best via email.
WeeCompanions @ aol.com (remove spaces)

Be prepared to quarantine any foster piggies away from your own piggies.

Re: 60 Guinea Pigs Need Homes!

Wee Companions ended up pulling 50 piggies from the Perris facility.

There is still a great need for foster homes ( and forever homes too!)

If you live in the San Diego area and are able to foster, please contact Fenella at :

I went to a event that they were having and they had some cuties. I would recomend checking them out. Alot of them were babies not even weaned yet though. But they were cute.

Re: 60 Guinea Pigs Need Homes!

I would love to foster a piggie, but I have absolutely no room left in my tiny apartment for a quarantined piggy . I've looked at adopting from Wee Companions in the past also, I really wish I could.
