Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? I may know of someone who needs to rehome a sow she worked for months to rescue from a classroom. Shortly after succeeding her severe allergies started. She had planned on getting her a friend but held up to see if she could get control of the allergies. She already had 3 boys. I'll send her an email. She lives in Somerville. I don't know if she'd be able to let go of the boys or not, she is really attached to all her pigs but realizes the sow needs a friend. edit: I don't know if this sow is long haired or not. I guess I need to know if that is required before I contact her. Let me know.

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? We are looking for an uncle for our George. It doesn't matter what he looks like just as long as he has male plumbing. We live in South MS and also have a second home near Oxford (so we are in that area often). Actually our local humane society (Humane Society of South Mississippi) takes pigs and we are on the waiting list. I also have an application in at Choas and Critters in Mobile, AL. The closest pigs to me on Petfinder are Texas and Georgia which are a bit out of reach.

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? There is a person in NE Arkansas looking for homes for some babies. She rescued three pregnant sows. The boys are ready and the thrid litter which has some sows in it will be soon. I'm in Memphis so if this person is willing to adopt to either of you in MS a piggy train could be worked out. Here is her thread on GL. Beautiful babies by the way, I wish I had the room... Guinea Lynx :: Topic - Precious babies in N.E. Arkansas

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? Dash is cute or any of the other boy babies (when they get old enough). Would you contact her? Do you know her? Should I post there? I don't check that site as much as I do this one. Please let me know. We can travel to Memphis. Thanks!

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? I don't know her personally. I don't really want to get in the middle of an adoption decision. It might be best for you to post there. However, I am more than happy to help with transport if that is needed. In fact, next Saturday (10-21) I am traveling to a marching competition in Senatobia. I don't know if things could be worked out that quickly but if I'm going anyway...

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? Oh my that grey abby boar is precious!!! I want to just squeeze him! Mkkayla, Senatobia is 7 miles from me, and on Saturdays Im always just outside of Senatobia for soccer games. Would it be possible to meet up with you on the 21st to purchase a box of bluegrass from you, rather than worrying with a sample? If you will have room to transport it to me, and will have the time to meet up let me know. PS If Critters can work out an adoption and you can get the pigs to Senatobia, I can pick them up and transport them further south to meet with her that day--In Batesville or Grenada? In fact on the weekend of the 27th Ill be traveling to Corinth as well, if that would be better.

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? I should be able to bring a box with me, but your more than welcome to try a free sample first. But if you get the box and your pigs don't like it (highly unlikely but still) I'll buy it back-my pigs love it! I haven't gotten the address yet to where we'll be going nor what time we perform, but I should have that early next week, then I'll get in touch with you so we can finalize stuff.

Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? I figure between my 5 pigs, the 6 pigs of the lady I'm trying to help out, and the pig that my step-sister in law has, I'll find pigs that will enjoy the bluegrass

I'll try to give a quick run-down of how this all came about. I've always loved guinea pigs and all animals in general. I left work one day and came across a lady that had 7 guinea pigs in a very small dog carrier. They were literally piled on top of each other and appeared dirty. They were squealing (scared squeals) which is what first caught my attention. I inquired what she had and she explained her mother had guinea pigs which had babies and they could no longer care for any of them. When she opened the carrier and I saw them, my heart just dropped. There were 3 females and 4 males. She agreed for me to take them and I asked if there was a cage. She let me follow her to their house. The cage was filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. I was able to find decent homes for 2 of the males and an excellent home (they are spoiled! C&C cages, fresh veggies galore! ) for the other 2 males. I kept the 3 females as it was obvious 2 of them were expecting and the other one I was pretty certain was also expecting. This was almost 2 months ago. I now have 7 babies and 3 moms equaling 10 piggies! They are the most precious things and I will be keeping the mothers. I can't part with them and I love them so much. Within less than two weeks of getting good Timothy hay, good pellets, and 1 cup per piggie of fresh veggies and a little fruit each day, I saw these frightened girls turn into little loves.I'm now greeted with wheeks of joy and they even come up to get a chin tickle (and sometimes a smooch!). The babies are precious. They are on a good diet of high quality alphalfa hay, Oxbow timothy pellets, and fresh veggies with occasional fruit tidbits. I've been handling each one for a few minutes each day hoping that will help them get used to us two-legged creatures who love to cuddle them piggies. I'm new to this forum and am not sure of all the rules regarding pictures yet, but will be happy to post pictures of the babes and their mums as well if allowed. The father was a long-haired, pure white, abyssinian mix. He was a big guy! All of the babies have whorls, however I'm not sure how long their hair will be. A few are pretty spikey looking! I have pictures posted on the Guinea Lynx forum also.I've really been praying about this and wish I could keep every single one of them (It's going to be hard letting them go ), but I would be so tickled knowing these little guys and gals were going to someone that would love them for a lifetime and give them the care they deserve.I do not have the room for all of them unfortunately. I will take some more pictures of the last litter (there are 4 pups, all whities both male and female) tomorrow and get that posted. They were born on October 3rd and are growing fast! I also still have Kirby, Kismet, and Dash. I would be happy to answer any questions about them either here, by email or phone to anyone interested. Thanks so much mkkayla. I really appreciate your kindness and help! |

| Re: Long Haired Sows in South West TN/North West MS area? Hi, We are very interested in a boy piggie. Dash, Kismet, and Kirby are adorable. Do you have an application we need to fill out? We would pay any fees involved as well as transport gas for those that help transport. Also, would I need to quarantine him? We nursed George back from a PetSmart (near death) URI 4 days after we purchased him approximately 3 months ago. He is 100% better and has been off all meds for the past 2 months. Please reply or email me directly at thechereskins @ cableone . net. Thanks! Desarae Quote:
