Looking to adopt 3 year old female for companion to another 3 year old females whose buddy passed away last week. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to adopt locally in general, please let me know. Thanks, Doug |

First off, definitely check Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten. and fill out the Pet Search questions. I did this quickly and found 6 girls in Georgia. 2 are in Cumming, 1 in Buchanan, and 2 in Athens. You can also check the Classified section on Petfinder. I found my hamster there when I was looking. As far as age goes, you could really introduce any age to your 3 year old. You may want to consider a younger pig, and let your more mature one teach her. |

Hey I live in Atlanta too and I found a great place to adopt it is called the North Georgia Guinea Pig Rescue in Cumming. The rescue is listed on petfinder.com the lady's name is Christina Hubard. You should definitely check it out. That's where I got one of my piggies and he is wonderful. |

North GA rescue is a wonderful rescue. Christine is a great lady with a wonderful love for the guinea pigs she has. If you are looking to adopt a healthy guinea pig that really needs a home, then check her out. You won't be disappointed at all. |

Also two females in Douglasville: http://cavyrescue.com/cc.htm (key in Georgia) Locally, in general: North Georgia Guinea Pig Rescue is a wonderful place to start. Also call your county animal control; nearly all metro Atlanta counties get guinea pigs in from time to time and very few know what to do with them. The Atlanta Humane Society does know what to do with them and cares for them pretty well. It's still a shelter, though, and they nearly always have some: Atlanta Humane Society |
