We have had several adoptions at the Virginia Beach SPCA, but unfortunately even more guinea pigs have shown up to take their place. There are now a total of 10 guinea pigs at the shelter, 9 boys and 1 girl. To top it off, I will be taking my foster pig mother and her four babies back to the shelter this coming Tuesday. That means that in less than a week there will be 15 guinea pigs at the shelter. We really cannot continue to keep up with this many guinea pigs because we normally only have 2-3 at a time. The small mammal room is also packed three cages high with rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters, and gerbils.
All of the guinea pigs are very sweet and friendly, but most are shy (which is very typical of guinea pigs).
Pippen- a very sweet and laid back male who will let you cuddle him all day. He loves attention and will come running for treats. He would make an awesome family pet.
Guiney- a handsome "crazy hair" guinea pig who likes to jump on top of his pigloo and talk to the other guinea pigs. He is extremely adorable and seems very playful.
Chubbs- a big, squishy guy who is full of personality. He loves to explore and is not skittish at all. He is more of a dominant guinea pig when it comes to other pigs. Seems to really like people.
Lola- an absolutely stunning girl! Very beautiful agouti coloring! She is shy, but such a sweetheart.
Buttercup and Roofes- a pair of young boys (only 4 months!), they are friendly and have very beautiful, soft fur! One has a single crest on his head and the other is a "crazy hair" like Guiney.
