Since my last posting, none of the guinea pigs from the Virginia Beach SPCA have been adopted and two more have come into the shelter! This makes 10. On top of this problem, my pregnant guinea pig that I am fostering had 4 babies last night. This means that in three weeks, when the babies and mom will be ready to go back to the shelter, there will be a grand total of 15 guinea pigs at the shelter!!!! This is not even including any that may be brought into the shelter within the next several weeks. I have been volunteering with the SPCA for over four years, and we have never even come close to this many guinea pigs.
These adorable, friendly, and healthy guinea pigs desperately need loving homes before we run out of room. As you can imagine, with the small mammal room already packed with adoptable rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters, and a gerbil, 15 guinea pigs does not help the problem! Please, if you know anyone near the Virginia Beach area who is looking for guinea pigs (or any other small mammal) please tell them about the SPCA. Many of these guys could easily be bonded to a lonely single pig or to each other if you want to adopt a pair.

You must adopt in person and an application and small adoption fee applies.
