PA pigs are in need of desperate help! - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

There was a rescue that involved many cats, dogs and up to 70 guinea pigs in Schuylkill County (Pottsville, PA). They were being sold at auction, 10 cents a piece for food. Now the owner just wants to get rid of them as he is being over-run by pigs. They were found living in filthy and deplorable conditions with maggots and living on top of 2 ft of their feces. There are many pregnant females available and pigs of all ages. They will be going back on Wednesday to pick up the rest of the pigs as they have no room for them all.

Even though, the shelter, Hillside SPCA located in Pottsville, PA, is a non-kill shelter, they are threatening to put the pigs down as they have no more room.

Please if you can, please help, so the pigs have a chance.

Oooh you can't do this to me! I want to take one in so bad, but my parents said absolutely not, I have too many already. Maybe I can weasle my way out of it.

Just in case some of you didn't know, all these pigs are being taken into guinea pig rescues and will be fostered. None will have to be put down due to lack of space. I was told the majority of the females are pregnant and just about all have mites. One so severe, it doesn't have any hair whatsoever. These poor pigs, I feel so bad for them. At least now they will have a chance for a happy and loving home.

I too am feel so helpless. Here in Az it can be so hard sometimes to find a pig and back East is overflowing.
What is the matter with people that can do these type of things to animals?
Just makes me sick.
