Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I'm taking a job in SC in October and am simply too transient to give them the care they deserve. Starsky and Hutch turned 1 year old in June. I've had them since they were 4 weeks old. They have tons of spunk and would be good with anybody, although I would not suggest small children. I will be happy to give them away with their cubes and coroplast cage and extra cubes for an expansion I had been planning. I feed them Oxbow supplies: hay and pellets. Plus a variety of home-grown and organic produce (I love to spoil them). Orange bell peppers, kale, and sweet potatoes are some of their faves. Their current bedding is carefresh, although I've tried everything and have lots of extra polarfleece! I will miss them dearly, but know they would hate the trip to SC and temporary living situation (with cats) that I will be in. Please follow this link for pictures of the cute little guys: beccahay89 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting (let me know if the link doesn't work) The pictures are from last summer -- they are much bigger now! I currently live in Athens and would be willing to travel within the NE GA area to get them to a good home! |

I'll extend the same offer I gave amber30 to you - I'll be in Atlanta (which is quite near Athens, if I remember correctly) on Labor Day weekend, and could either take them for you (My cage is just big enough for two boys right now, but I'm expanding it) if you have no home for them by then (I can't justify going to a shelter to get homless pigs with my SO, but we're both willing to do some work to ensure none with homes already wind up in shelters if it's possible), or be part of a piggie train for anywhere from there South into within 50 miles South or East of St. Petersburg, Florida (so, either on the trip down from Atlanta, or within 50 miles of where I live in Florida). Just check in if you don't have a home for them by then! Good luck Hmm... I should post somewhere at some point my travel plans, in case anyone between here and there wants to adopt somewhere just a bit too far for them and needs a piggie train... |

Thank you for the offer! I haven't found them a home yet, so will let you know closer to the date. One way or another, I won't take them to a shelter. I am hopeful that I can find a way to bring to them to Columbia. Even then, I will be living alone and traveling a lot and know that they won't get the attention they deserve. I will also give them away with their current cage. It's a 2x3 with a sleeping loft (towel tents included). I have extra cubes for an upgrade I wanted to do, but don't have the room right now to fit it. I try to let them out to run as much as possible since I've noticed more "dominance" behavior between the two. Atlanta is only a 1.5 hours away from Athens, so it shouldn't be a problem to meet you then if I can't find them a home. Thanks again and I'll be in touch! |

I'm also in Atlanta and have some (limited, but some) availability to help transport. Let me know if you need me. |

I live in SE Georgia, near the FL border. I would be willing to house or help with the cavy train if I can help. |

GAcavies, have you found a home yet? I just lost my second pig, and have expanded the cage to a 4x2 with a smaller loft. Before I look into a shelter for a buddy for Hee, I wanted to find out if yours still need a home, as I'll be in Ga next week if all goes well. And yes, I'd expand the cage another grid if two more were brought in |

Hey! No, I have not had any luck in finding a GOOD home for them. I definitely want someone who knows their needs --- sounds like you might be a good fit. I did finally find a house and roommate in SC that will let me bring them. The only problem is that she has a terrier (the nose could be trouble) and I will be traveling a good bit with work. I want what is best for my boys. I love them to death, but know I need to do what is in their best interest. Right now they are crammed into my bedroom in a 2x3 C&C. They get along well, but are showing more signs of dominance as of late. I should be able to expand the cage at the new place in SC, but not sure by how much.... I am turning in my thesis the first week of Sept, so will be a little crazed until/after then. I will send you a message with my phone number. Maybe you can give me a call and we can talk about them more? I would also give away their cage, which you can use to add more grids, or more space to the loft (I have a 2x2 "sleeping" loft with a grid-formed/placemat-bottomed ramp). I'm so sorry to hear about Cupid. Starsky and Hutch have never been around another male, but it's worth a shot! Talk with you soon! |
