Just when I thought I had seen some of the prettiest Skinnies in the world these pigs were born,yesterday. There are 2 skinnies and 2 with very strange hair.

She just got so big so quick and then poof here were babies. IF the little skinny with the dark eye is a female she is going to be staying here.

It is the smallest of the litter and I have been hand feeding it just a little.

They truly are so sweet and I am so glad that mamma and babies are all doing well and everything went smoothly.

I already told ya if I ever win the lottery I am going to start a strictly Skinny and Baldwin rescue. I feel so sorry for them they just offer so much love in a short period of time.
Of course I still love the furries but it is just something about those little guys who have the faces that only us special people love.

So very cute! I just love babies! How to you get skinnies? Was the dad a skinny? I thought skinnies begat skinnies. I thought they were special breed. I really know so little about them, just what I heard about for labs. I have seen them in shops but they go for even higher because they are a special GP or so the signs say. My daughters 2 skinny rats were given to her. I just knew they could have more medical problems.
Anyway your babies are adorable.

If I'm correct, Skinny is a recessive gene, not a seperate species. You need two skinny genes to get a skinny baby, so the hiared babys had either 1 skinny gene and 1 haired or 2 haired genes.

Yes they are a special breed. They eat double the food,poop double the amount. They can't handle drafts and there are sometimes skin issues,along with a greater chance of other normal guinea pig issues. My vet is doing some research he is very interested in their health issues etc. so I hope to be able to share some quality information.
I haven't a clue as to what the daddy is. They were part of a shelter situation where they were mixed around. So it is just a guess. I will say this though there was only 2 males that were either a skinny or baldwin so I am not sure who the dad is.

When I was looking for a skinny pig all that are around here are males, and I was told that is because the skinny gene is carried by the female.So that is why there are so few females around because breeders keep them. All of the pet stores here in Toronto only sell the males for this reason. I am not sure if this is the case, but this is what I was told. A male skinny cannot produce skinnies, but even if a female skinny is bred with a furry it will still produce skinny's. Man they are cute,you are not in Canada are you piggie parent?

Ohhhh my goodness! They are so cute. I want them all!!! (Especially if they are boys). The momma in the first picture looks *exactly* like my Costanza.
Let me know if any boys from the litter need a home up north!

The 2 furries have that strange fur as the last litter. JD can tell you it is the strangest,softest stuff. I can't find words to explain it properly.

I never knew it was soft. I just always thought by looking at the texture that it felt close to a teddy's texture. More on the course side like a SOS pad. (I mean that in a nice way, you know I love my Dudley

)

Oh---by the way, I did say that I am in love with that momma right? She is the cutiest skinny (oh, and of course Sammy, you know I love Sammy, he looks like such a sweetie and Mason, can't forget about Mason)
