I'm looking for a young/baby boar as a friend for my male "Beaver". He's going to live in a big C&C cage, is going to get a lot of attention, run around time, and fresh and healthy food. If you have a small piggy you need to rehome, let me know. Beaver is about 2.5 months old and the other piggy should be around the same age. |

Tiffi, Since Beaver is still so very young, you may want to consider an older boar. A boar about a year old or so will be helpful to teach Beaver what he needs to grow into being a good adult guinea pig, and the age difference will mean you can skip the issues common with two adolescent boars when they hit puberty. |

Thank you very much for the tip Percy's Mom. So that means that two boears of about the same age might fight more once they get into puberty compared to a young with an older one? Just making sure I understood that right. Does the other boar have to be about a year old or is it ok if he is just a few months older? |

I would definitely say 8 months old or older to make sure he is past puberty before Beaver starts. I'm sure you'll get more advice from people who have more than 1 boar and have gone through this. |

They hit puberty around 4 or 5 months I think. At least that's when mine started. I agree with PM. An older boar would be better. Two boars going through puberty at the same time is no fun. Mine tried to kill each other. The raging hormones makes them crazy. With an older boar (more laid back the better) you will hopefully avoid this fiasco. |

Tiffi---Unfortunetly there are no guinea pig rescues in our area, but I can help you get another "son" if you want. I am in the process of adopting three females from SC (almost 9 hour drive one way), but someone is helping me transport them so I only have to half of the distance. My pigs will more than likely going to be spending the night at the North Georgia Guinea Pig rescue and I will pick them up the next afternoon. ANYWAYS, is what I am getting at is if you want a pig from either rescue, and you get apporved, all of that I will help transport your pig to you. I can even keep your boy a few days if needed. I will be making the trip to get my girls in about 2 weeks or so. They are currently on pregnancy watch, so we are waiting to make sure they are "OK". If I was to pick up your boy in Georgia, I would come home (it is about a 5 hour drive one way). I than within the next few days, meet you halfway (that would only make it a 45 minute drive one way for each of us). We could meet in Fayetteville TN. Let me know if you need any help, both of the rescues are listed on Petfinder and both ladies running the rescues are very nice and easy to work with. If you want a friend for your boar, I am willing to help you. I am so glad you are looking into adoption. It is not always the easiest way, but it is the right way and so rewarding to know you made a difference for a animal so much in need of a loving place to call home |

Here is North Georgia's site. Check out Rodney, I have had my eye on him for a while, but had no more room for more males. He has been waiting for a home for a very long time and he is SOOOO cute North Georgia Guinea Pig Rescue |

Thank you guys! You are all so wonderful! I have just written an email to the Knoxville Guinea Pig Rescue, and will wait what Janet has to say. She has a silver agouti abyssinian older male, who is neutered. There is no picture listed, but I imagine he looks beautiful! Thank you for offering me all this help. I am just going to wait for an answer from Janet now. |

I don't know if you've had enough coffee or not, but West Memphis is definitely in Arkansas. Go all the way west through Memphis, TN, cross the Mississippi River, and the first city over the Arkansas line is West Memphis, AR. |

I did not have enough coffee this morning either. I wrote Arizona, meant Arkansas, just knew it was not near Nashville. |
