Only a male? Do you have any other pigs? It's usually best to get a pair. |

I hope either the male is neutered or the female is spayed. If you're looking for a third, and the male has been neutered, another female would typically be the better choice. Two males have a higher chance of fighting over a female than 2 females over a male. |

So right now you have 2 pigs that are in seperate cages and can't play together. Or at least they shouldn't have floor time together if neither is fixed. It only takes a few seconds for a guinea pig to mount and get the other pregnant. |

Why don't you just get one of them fixed? It would be less risky to do a nueter rather then a spay. |

My female is fixed. And they do get floor time. Once the bigger cage is finished they will all be able to be together. Thanks Angie |

Thanks for all of your options. I dont know if this is againest the rules but I sent this post to get just replys if someone has a male. I know how to take care of GPs. I also know the do's and do not's. Everyone has a right to their option but please if you do not have a GP for me then please do not reply. Thank you, Angie |

The opinions are particularly important to your situation. When you said the cage was divided, that inferred that the female had not been spayed. In your situation, it would still probably be best to get another female if you can find one that has been spayed. Two males with a single female generally do not work out well. Whatever pig you decide to get eventually, please make sure you quarantine him/her in a seperate cage in a seperate room for at least 3 weeks to insure that there are no illnesses that might be passed to another pig. Just a divider in the cage is not adequate for this. |

Why dont you let the spayed female and the male be in the same cage without a divider then? |

I want to set things straight. I have 2 fixed females now. I am almost finished building my cage. I am looking for only a male, maybe 2, I'm not sure yet. Yes they will all be in the same cage together. If I see that may be a problem then I do have another cage that is big. If anyone close to st joseph missouri has a male or 2 please let me know. When you reply let me know what you have so I can ask you questions while you also ask things of me. thanks |
