Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hello: I adopted three cavies from a local shelter - a mom and two girls/tricolored short hair with some cute longer hair on their heads. Guess what? I am allergic. I am looking for homes for them in Central Florida. If you know anyone, please have them contact me. They are small, adorable, extremely tame and I can sell a small temporary cage to house them if the new owner needs one. I am so sorry to have to give them up, but they bother my asthma like my other animals do not. Apparently, some cavies cause allergies. I have had them about 2 months or so. The mother is all tricolored. One baby is black with a white patch on her head and one is brown with a white patch on her head. They get along really well and, of course, should go together. They are on the smallish side. Hope this helps. Please tell your friends. I am a few minutes north of Orlando. |

I hope they are not going to be classroom pets. Guinea pigs need large cages, constant caregivers, lots of fresh veggies, frequently cleaned out cage, 24 hour access to hay and clean water. These things are pretty difficult to provide in a classroom. Not to mention they shouldn't be left in the the school overnight, on weekends or holidays, and they shouldn't go home with several different students. If they are the teachers pets and she brings them in on occasion for the day then I can see that but otherwise I think classroom pets are a bad idea. |

Good evening: For some reason, I have been having terrible problems gaining access and approval to the site. I did send an email regarding my guinea pigs and was so happy to hear that someone responded so quickly and close by. I have photos of them and a starter cage, if you need one. Otherwise, I have a nice animal box with holes to transport them to you. They are so loving and wonderful, not too noisy, and really beautiful. I have even started litter training them so you can continue if you'd like. The mother is smaller and her two babies are totally weaned. They are all girls. Please email me and maybe we can get together this weekend. By the way, they are used to other animal sounds. I have dogs, a rabbit (who makes no noise), a dwarf hamster and fish. The dogs put their noses to the guinea pigs. However, they are in a separate room when I am at work to ensure their safety. I had a guinea pig as a child and was not allergic. I am not sure why these cavies are causing me problems. At any rate, I would sleep better at night if I found them a very good home. Thank you all for responding with advice. Being protective is a good thing! |
