I would love to find a young boar to be a friend to my older boar beaver... In fact Beaver is my fourth pig.... and we have managed to lose the other 3 to URI in the space of about 4 years. IL admit that the Idea of getting a new pig is a bit scary as it seems we always lose a pig when we get a new pig. My first 2 pig's came to me after being found wondering on the beach. The person who found them was kind enough to want to home them but really couldn't and they came to me. They cleaned up lovely and were so much fun and being bonded boars.. (Brothers I think) they never fought. I think I'm a good Pig owner and experience has sadly taught me more then I should like to have had to learn |

Try Have a Heart Guinea Pig Rescue. We adopted from Marcie and thought her pigs were very well cared for. She's on Petfinder and is located in NJ. Good luck. |

Have you tried www.PetFinder.com? They also have a list of local shelters/rescues and a classified section. Good luck! |

I have seen pet finder in passing.... at the time it seemed that most of the places were so far.... and in a lot of cases in the city area's of the state... where I am sad to say I am not very comfortable driving. I need to find a sheet of corplast... there are a few sign shops here.... so making the new cage is first priority. Thanks for your Reply Robert |

How do you feel about getting a pig from the SPCA? They are a rescue of sorts and they always seem to have lots of pigs.... And they gotta be able to sex them better then the local shop's. Some of the local shops aren't very good... Its the mom and pop places that are the worst... they don't even try to control their pig's and they too often house Bunnie's and piggies together.... I nearly got banned from one for point this out. Robert |

I just filled out and Emailed the Questionnaire From Have a heart. I was very impressed with the depth of the questions. I hope I haven't provided too much information , I have the tendency to really talk about Pigs and I guess I don't always know when to Stop. One of the questions was How much do I expect to pay per year to House and feed my Pig. This made me think a bit... I never buy everything at once... but I figured that 300$ - 360$ per year would not be too far off.. not including vet bills of course. Thanks for your response Robert |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have Emailed Marci at depth and she likes my application! Even better , My timing seems to have brought into my possession (next week really) a young spayed Sow named Yafa. I haven't seen a pic of her but she is described as: Small&Furry Guinea Pig Size: MediumNotes: YAFA!!!!! Yafa is a very pretty blonde and white American female that came into the rescue on 1/29/06 from the local animal shelter where she was turned in because she was no longer wanted. She is spayed and is used to being around dogs and cats. Foster home needed! posted 1/31/06 I am very happy. Robert Last edited by robertw; 02-10-06 at 01:28 pm. Reason: Unwanted HTML code |

Yay! I'm glad you have a new friend for Beaver. I was just wondering to myself though, if Yafa or Honey rather, is spayed, will Beaver still try to mount her? Or is Beaver fixed? Just wondering, I know it was frusterating with my 2 male bunnies mounting each other all the time, epecially waking up in the middle of the night trying to figure out what the heck all the thumping was about. |

He did try , several times.I missed what changed his mind.. suddenly he seemed to be in the corner crying. All that bunnie thumping must have been fairly disturbing. Im almost certain someone knocked on our door this morning... but when i went to the door I didnt see anyone.I bet the kid's had a good laugh on me |
