Any Left In New Orleans?

Are most of the animals (dogs) adopted out now in New Orleans? There is a person in town here who is willing to adopt dogs, but I thought it would have all been pretty much taken care of by now. If anybody has a web-link I can forward it on to her.

Re: Any Left In New Orleans?

The stray problem is still horrible here. The stray cats are uncountable. Just this morning I saw at least 5 stray dogs, one was sitting in the middle of the street and didn't even move when I drove towards it. It seemed healthy enough but until I got out of my car to try to catch him he stayed put sitting in the road. When he heard my friendly voice he ran off.

He has good reason to run. Lowlifes have been poisoning, shooting (guns, pellet guns and arrows), beating, running down, etc the animals down here. One road I traveled on last week I passed 3 dead dogs lying in trash piles. They were freshly dead as they weren't too badly decomposed yet.

They are still pulling animals out of the city. I believe Best Friends is still working along with several other orgs.

Here is the link to the New Orleans animal rescue you should find some info there about adopting http://www.animalrescueneworleans.com/

Re: Any Left In New Orleans?

Thanks Voodoojoint. I sent your message along to them. That sounds horrible! I hope things get better there soon (for the people and the animals).

No, there are still tons more. Many were not spayed/neutered so they are all breeding. The shelters are getting litters everyday and they have put down hundreds of animals already.

Re: Any Left In New Orleans?

I think that www.PetFinder.com still has info about adoptables from there.

Re: Any Left In New Orleans?

I read somewhere that there has been a population explosion of puppies down there since the hurricane. Lots of doggie's getting warm with each other. I'm sure the cats are doing the same. Woo, what a mess!
