Re: Question on adopting across the border?

AmiableAnimals (Amy) had pigs delivered to her rescue from Canada. I'm not sure how, but I know she did. It really shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Question on adopting across the border?

I live in Detroit, Michigan which is minutes away from Windsor, Ontario Canada. I have looked into the rules and regulations regarding guinea pigs for customs and there are no restrictions. They are allowed to cross as pets. I bring my pigs across to my boyfriends house in Canada whenever I stay there for 3 days or more.

Re: Question on adopting across the border?

Yes, as long as you tell them they are your personal pets their shouldn't be a problem. The Canadian Piggies here for adoption are Sweet Pea (what a coincidence!:~), Cecil, Nibbles and Vito (lots of character in those two boys!), & Greta, I believe. Wouldn't that be a coincidence if they ended up going to a Candian home. However, I think you are probably closer to Maine, are you not?

Re: Question on adopting across the border?

Yes, adopted pigs can cross the US/Candian border. Another member on this forum transported a pig last fall from my house in MN up into Ontario. There were no problems doing it except you can only bring over whatever food the pig needs for the trip only, no extra stuff. I was bummed because I had a ton of lettuce from my garden that I wanted to send with her.

Re: Question on adopting across the border?

There is one in Bangor and one in Auburn. Both are quite a drive for me but I am still looking.
