My girls are using their cozies as bathrooms! Whenever I check their cage in the morning I find their cozies filled with poop and soaked. They still sleep in them but its like they dont care that they're sleeping in their toilet! I find more poops in their cozies then anywhere else in their cage. Im just wondering if its normal that they're doing this? And how often most of your wash your cozies? Is there anything I can do to prevent this? or should I even bother trying to prevent it? Heeelp! |

Pigs often potty either where they lay and/or where they eat. I use fleece 'pouches' mostly for cozies because the urine drains out and I can wash them every few days. I also use these potty pads made a Piggy bedspreads that are fleece on both sides with an obsorbant middle layer. That way I pick them up each morning, shake them off, clean up the poops and flip them over. I can usually go for 3-5 days without having to wash them. Last edited by Ly&Pigs; 11-07-09 at 05:54 pm. |

Yep it's normal. Sebastian loves to poop where he sleeps. I think he thinks that he's hiding his poops from me. When they get soaked I just take them out and let them dry and then put them back. |

I made my cozies, and the 'mattress' that's inside the cozie is a small towel wrapped in fleece so its not so bad for pee but I find ALOT of poop in them. Im glad its not just my girls. |

I put a cuddle cup in one of my pig's cage, and she did the same thing. I would watch her go over to it, poop and pee in it, then go back to her hayrack or where ever. I think she was litter-trained at her previous home, so maybe that was the problem. I ended up taking it out and putting it in Celine's cage. Celine doesn't really do anything with it except push it around the cage. As for washing them, I usually just toss it in when I do the fleece once a week, but if yours are pooping/peeing in them a lot like you said, I would either wash them more frequently, or make some more so that you can change them out once or twice a week, then throw them all in the laundry at once. |

I made little pillows that fit inside the cozies, they're made out of fleece with a matress pad in the middle, that way you only have to wash the little pillow and the cozy stays clean. |

My pigs poop in their beds, too. One of my pigs consistently sleeps in the litter box and boy is he stinky sometimes! ![]() I don't have any sage advice for you. Just know that you're not alone. |

Sebastian likes to sleep in his litter box too. I think he looks like a hay junky. |

You are not alone...my two older girls love thier cozies and do this too. I dump out the cozies when cleaning in the morning and let them air dry then put them back in the cage. I wash them every couple of days with the rest of my piggy laundry in the washer. I plan on making more as gifts for my babies. |

My pigs just poop and pee EVERYWHERE. No one has any special places or anything. During floortime, though, they tend to go in their hideys and corners. I haven't felt out my new guys, yet, but I've noticed piles of poo in corners so I may try to put litter boxes in those spots. |

Im glad to know that its just not me! I'm thinking of buying more fleece and towels this weekend and making a whole supply of pillows for their cozies. Thanks! |

Gary poops wherever he sleeps. His 3 favorite snoozing spots are usually covered in poo by the end of the day I don't mind though because it makes it easier to dump it out in the trash and the only other place he goes potty is in his kitchen/bathroom area. Thankfully, he limits his peeing to that area as well. |

Mine do EXACTLY the same thing so I gave up and put litter boxes under each of their houses. |

My girls do this too! I wash their bed every week when I clean the cage thoroughly and change the fleece and towels, but I vacuum the poops out of it every night |

I finally got the right size cozy's for our girls. The first ones I ordered were mini's which worked fine when they were little. I put the new one's in this afternoon and and yep, they are getting in them because I found poop in them tonight. We have a new baby and the mini cozy stays full of poop! |
