Cozies Won't Use Cuddle Cup - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

In mid July, I decided I wanted to try out a cuddle cup with my pigs. I convinced my mom to sew one (we don't have a sewing machine), and within a few days I had a very nice cuddle cup. I put it in first with Ayashe to see how she liked it. She's had it up until last night and only uses it for one thing: a piggy potty. I have never seen her laying down or sitting in it. Yesterday after the cage had been cleaned, I put the cozy in with Celine in the hopes that she would use it for something more than pooping in. So far she has mostly ignored it, prefering to either sit in her hayrack or her bunkbed to go snuggle in a cuddle cup. Is there some way to get the piggies more interested in it, or should I take it out and try with a sleeping bag?

Snap. So I made 3 open ended cozie tunnels. They love it and the odd time share one to sleep in.

Well if they are litter trained try putting some treats in the cuddle cup before bedtime.

If they're pooping in it they're laying in it

but that said I find during the day my boys will not sleep out in the open.At night when it's dark and quiet they're a little more willing to come out though.

Maybe try putting the cuddle cup under a towel tent so they feel less exposed?

Gary hasn't used his cuddle cup either. I'm thinking he feels too exposed. His favorite places to sleep are in his giant igloo and in this teeny tiny space between the kitchen area and wall LOL. I'm going to try the towel tent suggestion because I spent a pretty penny on that dang cup

I'm having the same problem with my guys. I can't get them to use theirs either. I have an upside down shoebox with a hole cut in it for them that they are obsessed with so I even tried putting it under there for them a few times and they push it right out!

Mine don't use the cuddle cups either, I bought a matching set and set of grids covers from ferndalooz on here, and I love them, will have to try the tent thing too, and put some snack or carrot in it, mine only pushes it around.

I just wanted to update that I have since draped a little hand towel over the side of the cozy cup and it's now Gary's favorite place to sleep

I've also put up an extra piece of fleece up over the cuddle cup, but with limited success. When I scoop up the poops in the morning, I usually find some in the cuddle cup, but I've never seen her use it during the day. I think she gets cold in the middle of the night (even though I have a heater running) and finds the cozy to be the warmest place to snuggle in.
