Hi!
I have 2 older boys who are separated by grids. One of my little rascals plays with his water bottle, emptying it too fast and making the cage completely soaked.
He used to have the typical nozzle bottle found in most pet stores (same as my other guy). But that was getting emptied so I switched to another type of nozzle bottle with a different tip that was better for a while. But now he's managing to empty that one out as well. (The nozzle of the bottle doesn't appear to be weakened or leaking.) I fill it at night and it barely lasts til morning, and now the past few days it has been empty by morning. I can add a second bottle, but the cage gets drenched as it is. He doesn't seem to be drinking excessively-- the water is all over the floor of the cage. A water bowl becomes a complete mess overnight as well.
He has never been one to use a ramp, but he will step onto something. I've wondered about attaching some sort of hanging water bowl (like the bird cage cups or fountain/tube feeders) to the grids above the coroplast, where he'd be less likely to make a mess of it, but he'd have to step on something to get up there.
Does anyone have any tips? Is he just trying to drive his mommy nuts?
Thanks!
