Cool Fleece Play Cube

Hello everyone, I just wanted to post something that I made. I made a fleece Play Cube for my piggies. It took me about 10 hrs because I am not very good at sewing and what not. If anyone has any suggestions on how make it easier or has made on of these before I would love to hear about it. I have not given it to the piggies yet because they are not in the same cage yet. 2 more weeks, I cant wait. So with out further ado here is the cube. There are 6 different shapes on it and it is a bit flimsy. It will be easy to manhandle . If you would like more pics, or directions on how I made it so that a better version could possibly be made please ask, I don't mind sharing

Re: Fleece Play Cube

Ha, 10 hours?! I actually like it. The shapes are abstract, so that's what makes it unique.

Re: Fleece Play Cube

I love it! How did you make the sides so stable?

I think that if I made it, I would make a removable bottom for it for easy washing.

Re: Fleece Play Cube

Great 1st attempt. I think the professionals use a foam plastic like thing similar to the stuff used in life jackets so they keep their form. Love it. I wish I had 10 hours to spare. I have about 2 hours of work to make little guinea pig sacks but just cant seem to find the time. I have a couple of great ideas that I was going to try but I need time and a clean dining room table (which rarely happens)! LOL My husband's only chore other than the kids is to cook and do the dishes...Needless to say they are always piled on the table!

If it's just cloth and polyfil, it should wash like a dream.

It looks awesome, and I'm tempted to make my own! I bet my boys would love something like it!

Re: Fleece Play Cube

Aww thanks guys. Ya, I got the foam board things after I had already gotten all the panels together and I wasn't going to take them all apart so I just finished making it the way it is now. It is made out of fleece and batting(sp) sorry I can never remember what that stuff is called. So it will wash very nicely. It stands on its own because the panels are sewn by machine inside out first and then turned right and then the shapes sewn by hand. Then I sewed all the panels together by hand very tightly to make it have sort of a "hard" edge. Then flipped back the right way to have the finished product. Each side has a different shape in the center. Heart, Star, Diamond, Triangle, Square and Circle. And please if you do make your own I would love to see it when it is finished.
