Hi, I did a search and it seems some people use the rollin ball hay dispenser and some don’t. What if it was used for veggies rather than sharp hay? I know it was mentioned that a guinea got stuck in one. Is there a particular type that this happens in or are they all the same? The ones we have the wire is very close together and its hard to see how a guinea would get stuck? |

That’s the one, poor chap. So what if extra measures were taken to secure the door? |

There have been a few people whose pigs have gotten feet or legs stuck in them. There are many safer alternatives to these hay rollers out there. I wouldn't use them for any purpose. |

I'd rather be safe not sorry and just not bother. Plus, I'm sure they are quite pricey. I'd be afraid that my boys would hurt each other with it...one pig would be would be trying to get the hay out and have their teeth through the bars, as they often do, then another pig would go around on the other side, yank it trying to get the hay out, and have the other pig's teeth still stuck in it. I might be paranoid, but hey, they're my babies. Also, my boys really like it when there hay is more accessible, it looks like it'd be difficult to get out of there. |

Thanks, any recommendations on hay racks, I don’t like the type that hook to the side as all the hay ends up outside the cage. I had a rollin one in with my two old boars for 3 years now they have never had a problem, its up quite high so they can only get the hay from the bottom they love it but I guess I will take it out now |

I cut 3 holes into a tennis ball that allow hay to be placed inside the ball and put it in my piggie's cage. Since its a tennis ball there are no wires that the pigs can get their teeth or feet stuck in and it still rolls around if they put enough force onto it. They usually just eat the hay sticking out of the ball though and leave it alone after that. |
