Hidey Hut Bottom

I made a new hidey hut for them today that they really love, but I want to add some extra comfort to it since they have pine bedding. (I don't really like fleece that much. xD)

So I want to add some fabric lining on the bottom of it but I'm worried they just might soil it in 5 minutes. You know like it'll be all brown and poop every where inside. Oh and stinky.

What type of fabric is best? Is a nice comfy towel okay? Or fleece?

And how can I atleast keep it clean for more than maybe a day?

I didn't know where to put this. Sorry. >->

Re: Hidey Hut Bottom

You could sew fleece to 1 or 2 layers of towel and put that under the house, fleece side up. Make a few and you can change it ever 2 days/as needed. Just shake it off once or twice a day to get the poos and shavings off of it. This is what I did when I used shavings, and I found that it worked well.

Re: Hidey Hut Bottom

I actually found that out when I was thinking before you posted. I have 2 cozies one for each of them. They don't really use them. The just like to sit on them. They both fit perfectly inside the house and I just slip a folded towel inside them. They work fantastic! I absolutely love them and so do they. Hammie's been staying inside 24/7!

Re: Hidey Hut Bottom

Fleece does seem to be the best. My piggers live in my homemade tents and I have several changeable square fleece pads that I change out every other day. Then I toss them all in the wash. It works great. I just make a little pad out of two layers of fleece with a laying of quilt fiber fill in between. The pigs find them super comfy and it makes them easy to clean.
