Question Are harnesses bad for guinea pigs?

I bought a super pet comfort harness and I was wondering if it was okay for them to use. Im not planning on taking walks around the block or anything, but i thought it would be good for playing outside or downstairs (the cage is upstairs).

Some people tell me its okay for them, some people say its really bad for them (on another site i go on witch is gaiaonline )

so im confused, help please?

Re: Are harnesses bad for guinea pigs?

It is bad for their backs. It would be best to build a playpen out of grids and give the floortime. Or you can just let the roam free in a room that is piggy proof.

Harnesses are potentially dangerous. You should avoid using them.

Re: Are harnesses bad for guinea pigs?

Here's some of the threads I found with search:

http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...inea-pigs.html

http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...heir-care.html (see second page)

These should get you started! I had the same confusion before this site corrected me.

Edit: I knew someone else would get in there first! The second link should provide corrections for many popular myths.

Re: Are harnesses bad for guinea pigs?

I had one once before I found this site. My Guinea Pig would go under my bed and if I would try pulling her out, it would slip off her and then it took me an hour to get her out. I would say "NO" because 1: Its bad for them. 2: They can slip out of it.
