They're safe, but a lot of guinea pigs will prefer to lie underneath them. |

It can depend on the pig one of mine likes to go on it and the other goes under it. |

Some pigs like them. None of mine do, though. They prefer tunnels and hideys that are on the floor. |

I've found that they're actually more inclined to use something like this if it's got more of a steady base. Something that wobbles around isn't as likely to feel comfortable for a pig, so if you can find a way to secure it in a corner or something so it doesn't move around as much, I think you'll find pigs more willing to use/enjoy them. |

I keep my hammocks low to the ground and they seem to like it. I have caught them cuddling in it a few times, but I find a pile of poops in it in the morning. |

I use a small towel and safety pins to easily make a hammock. I did this at first to see if mine would actually use a hammock, and they did! It really depends on your guinea pigs' preferences. |

One of my boys absolutely loves the hammock I got for them. You just have to be sure that it is pretty much almost touching the ground so they don't have difficulty getting into it. When I got it for them I put bits of carrot in it everyday so that they would at least try it out and get used to it. The other day my mom even caught both my boys in the hammock, AT ONCE! ha ha ha, hilarious sight considering that the hammock is small and my boys are 3 pounds each! |

My guinea pigs usually preferred being underneath the hammock but I did catch them in it a few times. |
