ummm. Well, here I go. My mom, my sister, and I just built our first C&C cage for our two new guinea pigs. It's two grids by four. But I don't think that matters, so. My grandpa had bunnies up untill last year, so I think he might be able to spare a rabit pellet feeder for us to use in our piggy cage, do you thing that'll work????(Altough I think we will use it anyways.) Do you think they'll share???? Last edited by Paula; 08-15-09 at 10:08 pm. |

I'm confused. Are you putting rabbit pellets in with the guinea pigs? Thats a big no-no. They have completely different dietary needs. Otherwise, I'm not sure I understand. |

no no no. We're going to put one I guess of maybe a pellet despencer? It's metal and you fill it with food and it has a "lip" i supose you could call it or "bowl", something to catch the food you'd just have to refill it less. the "bowl" might be 2"wide, 4" or 5" long, and mabye an inch to 2" deep, but it slowly refills the bowl when it's low with food. I'm really not sure what to call it. Last edited by VoodooJoint; 08-15-09 at 10:08 pm. Reason: Removing color from font. Please reserve the special font features for only necessary emphasis. |

I think you're talking about the feeder, right? I think you can use it if your pigs are under 6 months old. Older pigs should only have 1/8 - 1/4 cups per pig per day. With the feeder, you won't be able to monitor how much they eat. It is better to use a small ceramic bowl. Petstore bowls are expensive, you can get ceramic soap dish or something from a dollar store. I hope you're not planning to feed them rabbit pellets. They need guinea pig pellets. |

They can share it for now. It depends on the personalities of the pigs. If they fight, you'll have to put 2 pellet dishes in there. |

As for sharing the food dish that would depend on the individual pig. I have 3 females and they share sometimes and it's the same with my two males. |

Keep in mind they can overeat pellets sometimes and they can get stale sitting out uneaten like that. It's best to use a regular dish so you can freshen it easier and tell how much they are eating. Free feed hay, not pellets. |

I thought piggies under 6 months can have unlimited pellets? |

They didn't say how old the pigs were. I still wouldn't use a feeder bin for babies. Just refill their dishes as needed. |
