Painting a wooden house with... well, housepaint?

As some of you probably know, my cage has an upper loft with a big wooden house:

I was wondering if it would be okay to paint the outisde (NOT THE INSIDE) of this house with normal wall paint. Clover doesn't chew the house, and since its in the upper loft, she would only have access to the part right around the opening. Otherwise, the house is blocked off. My mom would like to paint it to match the new room that we are renovating where Clover usually lives. I'm weary to use the paint, so I figured I'd ask here.

You'd have to find an animal safe paint. It's always better to be safe. I also believe that paint needs to cure for several days before putting it back in the cage.

Ly pigs has a point. Find some pet safe paint and paint it. If you want to spray paint it, you can find cheap, pet safe spray paint. But leave it outside to dry for a while to get that stink out because I thought I heard that the smell of paint is toxic for Guinea Pigs or something like that.

Another option is to use contact paper that is sticky on one side. Just don't place it at the very edge of the opening where your pig could get to it. I'm not sure if you could find a color to match the paint, but it is worth looking into.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I think that she just wanted to use up the extra paint we have. It's not super important that we paint it, she was just trying to recycle the paint. We may look into some other options in the future, but for now, her house stays "au natural"! Thanks again!
