I've tried the boxes, the hayracks, bowls...you name it. I find they simply prefer just a huge heap of hay right on their shavings. They eat it, lay in it, tunnel through it and carry it all around the pen...I guess piggy is a good name for them. |

I'm the same way. I just throw hay in their kitchen. They love it that way. I buy a bale at the feed store. I'd like to order from kleenmama's but I just can't afford it. |

My piggies just love their local hay. I bought a small bag of oxbow to get by inbetween bales and they would not touch it so I had to quickly get another bale. Anyways I HIGHLY recommend the litter box/kitchen area stuff. I have done both. I have 2 litter boxes for my 2 boars who fight over stuff. And 2 kitchen areas for my other 2 pairs of boars. They do still drag a bit onto the fleece but it is still better than what it was. The neighbor below me still gives me a dirty look when I shake out my fleece. My boys on any given day do about 30-60% of their business in the kitchen/litter boxes. My fleece and towels are much less soaked. Good luck! Would love to know what you decide! |

I use to have a hayrack but as soon as I would fill them up with hay the piggies would pull it all out and drag it around to play in it. It was cute but it was a mess now the hay is in a small kitty litter pan that I bought at walmart and I only put their hay in it and I only put a little bit in it and they don't drag it out and eat more than what gets wasted. I put a handful of hay in it at a time and this works well for me. |

I don't think you should be shaking out your fleece when there is someone else living below you. I live in a 2nd floor apartment and never shake out my fleece. I put it in a large trash bag and shake while it's in the bag and then use a wrisk broom to brush the rest of hay and hair (while still keeping fleece in the bag). |

To make it easier for me to clean I use a turkey pan in their hay loft with a hay rack above it, and when they are eating the small pieces of hay just fall into the pan. I put carefresh in the turkey pan and spot clean the wet parts everyday. (Everywhere else in the cage I have fleece) I'm sure that if you didn't want to use a hay rack you could put the hay directly onto the carefresh. I have a little bridge going into the turkey pan. My boys seem to love it. One even sleeps in there sometimes. |

Yes they do! My boys love it when I pile it up enough for them to tunnel through as they popcorn about |
