What size in inches?

What size in inches should a piggy's food dish and thier veggie dish be. I saw a really cute kind of dishes on guineapigsupply. One is shaped like a carrot, one is shaped like a head of cabbage, and the third looks like a radish. Has anyone ever seen/ used them before. If so are they good to use or do they tip over to easy. They are ceramic. If these are not good then what do you all use as dishes?
Thanks.

Re: What size in inches?

I have seen the carrot before, and if it is the one that I am thinking of, it is very tall, and looks like it would likely tip over easily. However, I haven't seen the other ones. I use a dog dish, because all of the small animal dishes that I looked at were too tall and small, and the small dog dishes were just better overall.

Re: What size in inches?

The radish one would work. The cabbage one is good for veggies. The carrot one is cutest but not that great for guinea pigs. Maybe you could use it for veggies too but it is deep.

Re: What size in inches?

I've never seen these, but they sound adorable!
I use a cat food dish (one dollar at Wal Mart!!!) and it works well for us.

Re: What size in inches?

I've learned that wide shallow heavy dishes work the best. I'm plagued with food bowl tippers. My most recent dish is a ceramic cat food dish. As far as size: big enough to fit a 1/4 cup of food is what I am for, which isn't very high demand. 1/8-1/4 of pellets a day per pig is what is recommended for adult pigs, and most people have a dish of pellets per pig to avoid squabbles over food.

Re: What size in inches?

Lettuce know what you end up with and how well it works. (Get it? Lettuce? Let us? haha) I'm still searching for a HEAVY shallow bowl that isn't too wide...
