How is it different from other water bottles? Will my piggies be able to figure out how to get water from it scince it is different? |

Store: https://bunnyrabbit.com/price/waterbottle.htm Info: https://bunnyrabbit.com/price/inform...WaterBuddy.htm As far as I can tell the company that makes them no longer produces them for small animals. So they are in limited supplies from Online Retailers. |

Yes, your pigs will figure out how to use it. It is different because it has a little lever to press rather than a ball. This means no backwash, so it stays clean. It lies flat against the cage and can be filled from the top. It is easy to clean as well. And the best part is that it does not leak. |

I have been using the Water Buddy for about 6 months now and I will never use another water bottle again! I got mine through Dr. Fosters & Smith, and it was expensive ($16 - I think for the 16 oz.) but so worth it! I was using the regular water bottles for awhile and encountered the following problems: one leaked so badly that there was a massive puddle under it at all times, no matter how I tried sealing the bottle, one seemed to get stuck, meaning I thought my pigs had to use a lot of force just to get a drop of water out of it, and one, the lid leaked. I was fed up and decided to try the Water Buddy and have had none of the problems above. The pigs have had no problem using it, even the baby. In fact, with the regular water bottles, Alton would put the spout in the back of his cheek to drink. I am not sure what effect this had for him, but I thought it was a little odd and that maybe just licking the ball wasn't working. Now he just licks the little stem device and water comes easily. Here's another good thing about the Buddy: The top is huge so you can just poor water in when they need more. In the summer, like now, you can also drop ice cubes in to keep them cool and my pigs LOVE the ice water. No saliva gets into the water bottle, so no bacteria or food particles get in and I really only wash it out completely every other day as opposed to doing it morning and night daily with a regular. Hope that helps! |

Oh wow. That's sounds really good. I need to convince my brother to use his credit card to buy it online for me I guess. It would be expensive for three for all my girls but I'm tired of the leaks. |

Is there another place you can order it from? It would cost $40 if I ordered it from there with shipping. |

Okay, so I got the water buddy today and I think it's great, I just have a few questions. Do You put it on the inside of the outside of the cage? I have it on the outside but the thng they drink out of doesn't stick out very far. And how long will it take for them to start drinking out of it? It has been in the cage for about 4 hours but none of the water is gone. I saw one of my guinea pigs try to get water out of it once. Here is a picture of what it looks like: |

Yes, that is the way I have mine also. I've heard you can hang it either way. I put a brick in the cage under where the water bottle is, so they can stand on it and get to the spout easier without having to stretch so far. When I first got the Water Buddy, I was worried that the pigs wouldn't drink from it too. I put a regular water bottle next to the Water Buddy and took it out after a few days. I think by then they had begun to associate the area with water and had gotten curious enough to use the Water Buddy. One thing you'll love about the Water Buddy is that on hot days you can put ice cubes in them. Our pigs can't seem to get enough of the cool ice water and wheet as the ice drops in. |

I have mine on the inside of the cage. They figured it out right away. Keep in mind that pigs drink very little water, so you won't notice a change in water level right away for the most part. Erikababy, you can check local stores or just do a google search. |

I just got mine yesterday (ordered from bunnyrabbit.com) and so far I'm really pleased. I had a couple of cheap water bottles in the cage for the first few days we had our piggies (to make due while waiting for the Water Buddy bottles to arrive). They seemed to have a lot of trouble getting water out of the cheap bottles (chewed on the spout a lot as if it was frustrating but immediately were able to drink out of the Water Buddy bottles calmly. I haven't seen the bottles leak at all, but the water comes out so easily when the piggies drink that it drips from their mouths a bit - I have a brick under each bottle that seems to be catching those drips just fine. I went ahead and ordered extra springs and valves with mine to have on hand just in case, since these bottles are apparently being discontinued. |

I bought something similar to the water buddy from the tractor supply store. It wasn't flat on one side, was round, can fill from the top and had that lever which I really liked. The only problem I had was it leaked worse than the regular water bottles. However, it wasn't the "water buddy", more likely a generic. Where did you get yours??? I'd like to check it out. |

I just received my water buddy bottles from Bunnyrabbit.com and I couldn't be more pleased! They don't drip, you don't have backwash, the water doesn't get scummy, and best of all----NO RATTLING WATER BOTTLES!!!! Yes! My pigs used to keep me up at night with all the water bottle chomping but no more! I bought 2 16 oz. bottles for my 5 piggies and it only cost $15.00 each. It may sound expensive, but believe me, these things are fantastic and I don't see any reason why they shouldn't last a whole lot longer than the old ones we had. |

Yeah, Alton had the same problem. He would put the spout all the way in the back of his cheek and like, chew on it just to get some water. Now I know when they have been drinking because they will have some water on their chins and a little on their chests. |

Well, I just ordered extra springs, diaphrams, and o-rings when I ordered my bottles because I happened to see them listed there, and it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to have them on hand just in case I needed to replace any of those parts in the future. As the bottles have been discontinued, I figured I wouldn't be able to find replacement parts later on. I may never need to use them, but they were inexpensive to add onto my order (the springs are $1.50 and the others are less than a dollar each). |

I just ordered one of these today. For some reason our bottle started leaking really bad today. Half of the water leaked out in about 2 hours (it's a small bottle that we used for our hamster since my girls weren't drinking out the big bottle. The spout was too big I guess). So I ran out to buy another one and told them I didn't need the receipt. Well that one was leaking more than ours and now I'm stuck with it! Ugh. So I really hope the Water Buddy works. |
