Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have no more cubes left so bending a cube and hooking it to the cage is not an option. Are there any other good products that will hold my piggies' timothy hay so they all don't get on the fleece? I also have one more question, i'm thinking of buying a little litter box to save me from most hassle since they poop everywhere and i was wondering that if i use fleece, what should i put in the littler box? I have some Aspen shaving but i wouldn't want them to get all over the fleece..thanks! |

Wow i had the same feeling with my 2 piggies about the poop and the hay. So i went out to buy a litter box and with it care fresh shaving <----- this is what i use before i switched to fleece so basically i put all of their poops in the litter until they got used of doing it in there. Now the great things is not only do they poop in there they also pee!!!! which is the best part cause now they don't pee on the fleece. I spot checked the cage twice a day and only find few poops around it, which is much better than before. The litter box helps a lot cause my 2 piggies don't pee on the fleece which it causes not to stink at all. I change the little box every 3 days, also you can see the pee cause u can see the color of the care fresh darken as they pee on it. If you don't change it every 2 or 3 days it will smell, i learned the hard way |

You could switch to using a cocacola box like I did. One coke box easily becomes two hay racks Just cut it in half, then on each half cut off one side. Poke some holes in the cornes around the exposed side so you can ziptie it to the outside of the cage and stuff it with hay. The solid sides keep it from getting all over your floor, and the piggers can easily pull the hay in through the grids if its full so the amount that gets on the fleece is reduced. |

Go for it, its fantastic. Really any thinner box can be used though, it doesn't have to be a coke box. Its just they are trash anyway so why not? |

I found a metal basket at Target for 4.99$. It was in the home section. It is made out of the grids and works perfectly. It has a handle so it can hang from the top, or you can secure it through it's grids to the side of your cage. Either way works great! |

I bought a wire shower caddy from Walmart for $7. I removed the suction cups, zip tied it to the side of the cage, and presto - hay rack for two! =) It's big enough that both girls can nibble from it at the same time, plus it keeps the majority of hay off of the fleece. Of course, I still have to sweep the bits that fall out of it, but it's sure easier to deal with this way. |

I found a small round metal weave Easter basket at the Dollar Tree and zip tied it in the corner. Presto - a hay rack! |

I know everyone left great ideas for hay racks here, but I just thought I'd add a suggestion for the litter in the litter box. Of course carefresh can be used as mentioned a few above, but I think it can get expensive. So for a cheaper option, you could try Yesterday's News, it's a cat litter and it's made from paper. I bought a 13 lb bag at Walmart for 5 bucks, and with my two piggies it's already lasting over a month with more left in the bag. |

I use a big bird suet feeder, which I clip to the cage wall with a shower curtain holder, and that works great. |

Yesterday's news is great I use it for my piggies litter boxes under their hay racks. Unfortunately in California Yesterday's news isn't as cheap as mentioned above. I wish it were. |

Hmm, that's a bummer it's not where you live in California, cause I'm in San Diego. |

Didnt want to start a new thread, just wanted to show everyone my new hay rack thingie! Does everyone approve, I absolutely LOVE it because the other hay racks have such narrow spaces that my guineas get frustrated when they cant pull out a piece of hay. With this hay ball the spaces are large enough for them to pull pieces out easily and it seems like they cant ever get their legs stuck in it and it ALSO keeps the hay off the ground (previously was just throwing hay onto the ground of their kitchen area) |

I think I've seen warnings about piggie head get stuck in the hay ball because the space between the wires are wider. Just be careful and keep an eye on them. |

The petstore cage is the kitchen area only, not the full time cage, right? |

Yes, its the kitchen. there is a ramp that goes out of the store cage to their large play/sleep area. It definitely exceeds requirements |
