That's funny because I use one for Sandy because I haven't got a C&C cage built yet and the bracket is a pain! Even if its tight, it twists so it could be upside down and you wouldn't even know it. Oh, and does anybody know of what a lump under the arm could be? Sandy has one and this morning, I was feeling it(She doesn't squeak when I touch it) and it sounded like a crack. She hasn't squeaked anymore since then so I don't know! Please help! |

I have the glass one with the duckies also, and I got it in Canada from some pet store, though I can't remember which one. It doesn't leak much, but still I need a dish to catch water and I've realized its just because my pigs make a mess when they drink as well as they like to play with the bottle spout. Also for some reason I've found that if I fill it too full the pigs can't get the water out, I'm not sure why that is |

That is awsome that you managed to find the water bottle with the duck at a store in Canada. I do actually prefer go buy things in person and check them out first. I'm headed to Calgary for the weekend so if I'm going to be able to find it in a store that would be the place to look. |

Update: Thanks to all who suggested water bottles. I managed to find one of those glass ones with the duck inside on my last trip to Calgary and love it! I just wish I'd picked up a couple of them. Oh well, just another reason to go shopping. |

Are we STILL talking about water bottles? LOL I just wanted to put in my two cents here. I have two of the ever-so-popular ducky in glass bottles. One works fine, one has a tendecy to leak. After fiddling around with it for awhile, I found that the gasket in the cap wasn't fitting in very well. If I press it all the way into the cap before screwing it on, presto! No leaks! So if anyone has a problem with their glass ducky bottle leaking, you might want to check that out before pitching it into the garbage. |

Well we could if need be. Thanks for the note about the inner part of the bottle there. I'll keep it in mind. |

I guess I have been really lucky with water bottles. I bought mine from Wal Mart. The regular cheap plastic one. It doesn't leak. I bought a different kind and it leaked, so I returned it for another of the same and it doesn't leak. And the bottles I got with my rescued piggies are also a cheap kind and don't leak... Knock on wood. I have been really lucky. I have 5 water bottles and all are doing great. If I ever have a problem I know what to look for. Thanks everyone for the advice!! |

I had the largest glass bottle (with the duckie) but it did not fit my C&C cage once I got the lid on. So now I have a plastic one that came with a cage set up I got for quarantine/pregnancy prevention. Petco mis-sexed my first pig so I had to seperate him and the female friend we rescued to prevent babies (long sad story). So I'm using that one and I just put the flip top bottle in today so they'll have 2. I'm going to see if it leaks and if it does I'll exchange it for something else. I'm sad the glass one does not fit because it was big and awsome. I'm debating cutting a small hole in the coroplast for the spout. *Edit* For the small drips I put a thirsty stone coaster under the bottle so it soaks up any water. It came in a set of four so I change them out when they need it. I just wash with hot water and soap and set them vertical to dry. It really helps keep the bedding dry. |

I prefer glass bottles because I can boil them if necessary to disinfect them. I don't think dishwasher washing would do a lot of good since it has such a tiny hole for the spout, but I've never tried. They are more expensive and yes they can break easier - but generally come with a super cool spring with clips that works so much better than the plastic flimsy things and the wire connectors. I had a lot of drippage in my bottles until I started replacing the rubber gaskets. You can also look up a type of bottle from Lixit (if they are still around) - it has a metal nipple instead of steel balls. I used to buy parts from them years ago to make my own watering set ups. |

These are my favorite water bottles. I've used them with my sugar gliders, and will now use with my piggys. |

Boy I feel I have a kindred spirit here! I've just about had it with the leaking water bottles. I've bought almost all the ones mentioned on this thread - of course I didn't actually go thru all 91 posts but quite a few of them. The latest one leaked so bad and so quickly that we didn't notice until the entire bottle had emptied into the cage. What a mess!!! Yesterday I bought one of the flip top ones mentioned and it too leaked like a sieve, didn't even have to put it on the cage, just leaking away. That's going back today, then I think I'll try a different store just to see if I'm having bad luck with the store or it's just me. I'll try a ceramic catch dish under it, and I like the rubber band idea to hold it on the cage better. UGH!!! what a pain!!!! But I hate to hear my piggies in distress!!! |

I put a brick under where their water bottle is. It works great to absorb any drips and helps file their nails down too! |

Well mine refuse to drink from a water bottle. I got them as babies and they were too small to reach the water bottle so I gave them a bowl with water. In their former home they drank from bottles so I know that they now what it's for. I have both a water bottle and a bowl with water in it (I change the water several times a day), they prefer to take a big sip from the bowl instead of lapping it from the bottle. |
