Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I was wondering where to get a cheap brick to put under the water bottle for the leaks? I have looked several places but the are really heavy and kind of thick.....anyone got any ideas? I did try lowes and petsmart for a reptile rock, but it seemed to jagged and I didn't want them to get hurt. |

My first thought was go to a construction or remodeling site and ask if they have any broken or extra bricks. If you tell them what it's for they may give you one. Or you could walk down a gravel road or near a river or creek, and you may find that perfect rock to use (that's how I found all the rocks in my box turtle's house--some are quite large). Watch for piles of paving stones, bricks, rocks in people's yards/ditches and ask if you could have one. Or advertise your want with your local freecycle.org program, if there's one in your area. If your rock or brick seems too rough/sharp, use a hammer or metal file to smooth the rough spots. With certain bricks and rocks, you can "file" them down merely by scraping them across concrete. Good luck to you! |

Get it at lowes or home depot in the home and garden section. I got all my bricks at home depot for either 15 or 30 cents a brick. They're for making your own patio. Like the above poster said file them down a bit to get rid of their sharp edge. I stopped using mine under water bottles though, as it started making more of a mess than just letting it be absorbed by my fleece and towels. I use them to keep the hay buckets in place, as a stepstool for their hay buckets/litter boxes, and to keep the fleece from being pulled up by explorative little piggies. The piggies use them as little podiums to give speeches as to why their upstairs neighbors should be removed, or why they should get more veggies. |

They do seriously. You'd think they were politicians sometimes. Sometimes its like they just feel the need to give a state of the piggydom address. I had one who had a rock instead of a brick. It was his pride rock, because he would put his two front paws on it and squeak. I have one right now who my husband said is perfecting his jedi mind trick. He puts his front paws on the brick and then looks at you with his little piggie eyes, and keeps looking at you as you walk around the living room. Its like "You will bring me more veges," or "These aren't the droids you're looking for." The sad part is sometimes he does get more veggies, which probably just convinces him to do it more often! |
