Hayrack Warning - Stuck Pig Just FYI to everybody, my boyfriend woke me up this morning at 2am saying that we had a serious pig problem. When I got into my pig room, I found this: ![]() He grabbed some wire cutters, and it took us some finagling, but we finally managed to cut one side free (while leaving poor Sadie intact). ![]() The squares in the row that are NOT cut are 2"x2". That top row is 2" by 1.5". This particular brand of under-shelf hanger is sold at Wal-mart. ![]() Luckily, Sadie is ok. She's such a big pig (2lb 9oz) that I never thought about her being able to get her head in there. I have pigs much smaller than her with much thinner heads (maybe with more sense?) Just a heads up, though, in case anyone else is using these under-shelf hangers for hayracks.

Re: Hayrack Warning - Stuck Pig Thankyou for highlighting this Jennicat. Thankgoodness Sadie is OK, and that your boyfriend heard her. You must have had a horrible fright though. My own hayrack is an under shelf storage rack - but the spaces are smaller than grid spaces, but it is well worth everyone checking their improvised hay racks, incase the holes are head sized or larger than grid holes - which they shouldn't be. Obviously baby pigs' parents need to be extra sure the rack spaces are smaller than grid spaces. Maybe it would be a good idea to put your first picture in the hayrack section of the gallery too, to let people see exactly what can happen.

Re: Hayrack Warning - Stuck Pig Yeah, the holes on the front of these are smaller than the average grid holes, it's only the bottom that had the wider holes.

Re: Hayrack Warning - Stuck Pig Wow! I have this exact thing. I made it into a little house for them and used a little sheet for put on top. So far I haven't had any problems with it but might now consider taking it out via a replacement home

Re: Hayrack Warning - Stuck Pig Wow, that is really alarming, specially considering I have that same hay rack! Eek, poor Sadie, glad she is okay though.
