Re: Food Bowls?

I use a ceramic bowl made by Living World (I believe). It's made for guinea pigs, safe to be put into the dishwasher, and doesn't tip when Ksusha stands on the rim. She tried picking it up with her teeth by the rims initially but since her teeth can't sink into it, she quit doing that pretty soon. It's not wider at the bottom but she wouldn't be able to tip it with her nose either because there's no way for her to get her nose underneath it. I'm pretty happy with it. It cost me about 6 bucks at PetCetera. http://www.petutopia.co.uk/images/pr...2900_61665.jpg This is a picture of this bowl. I'd rate it 5/5 but to each, his own, right?

Good luck on the bowl hunt

Re: Food Bowls?

I use the bowl specially made for spaniels (so they're ears dont hang in the bowl) they are great because my pigs kept digging in the bowl and it keeps pellets fresh and clean, and its heavy and cant be tipped.

Re: Food Bowls?

I was having the same problem with my bowls being tipped over. I finally bought a couple steel cat/dog bowls. They can't be tipped over and are low enough for the girls to eat comfortably.

Re: Food Bowls?

These work very well. I have a green and pink polka-dot one.

Re: Food Bowls?

Those bowls chexxy posted will hold roughly 1 cup - maybe a little more/less.

Re: Food Bowls?

Yeah. Coco's bowl gets a bit smaller as you get to the bottom. And he puts his paws on the rim when he eats. I sometimes dig a small hole in his cage to put it in so he does not have to climb on it, but he does it anyways. He JUST TIPS IT OVER AGAIN!!

Re: Food Bowls?

I have tried some of the bowls you have desribed, but it either takes up too much room, and he still tends to tip it over. I used the cat/dog bowl idea, but apparently Coco is very strong and determined!!!

Re: Food Bowls?

I think no matter what type of bowl or feeding vessel, the piggies will tip it over. I think it seems natural for them to want to hold onto something when they are eating.

It's probably useless to keep trying to find the perfect bowl or whatever to put the food into. As long as they're eating, everything is ok.

Re: Food Bowls?

It is causing alot of problems with his cage. since Coco is on Pine, it is hard to get the pellets out of the shavings. Then, Coco goes to the bathroom on them, the pellets get all mushy and soggy. Even if I do clean it up, it comes right back the next time I feed him.
