Re: Food Bowls?

Try one of the bowls that lock on to the sides of the cage.

Re: Food Bowls?

I recommend hitting up some thrift and discount stores that have kitchen sections. You can often find nice cylindrical ceramic soup bowls for a dollar or less. I have two which are plenty heavy, like this:

Picasa Web Albums - Stephen - pigs

These have little handles on them like a coffee cup. They work great.

I also have a ceramic salad/serving bowl for feeding veg and grass. It does not tip because it is large and shallow. My pigs huddle around it, and usually take turns jumping in. It is from the thrift store as well. I don't leave this bowl in the cage. It is just for veggie time.

Re: Food Bowls?

My baby Token has started this new thing (it's almost cute) where she takes the pellet bowl with her whereever she wants to rest. It's one of these little ceramic custard dishes. Sometimes she tips the bowl and spills the pellets. I'm worried that one day she'll break her teeth.

I'm going to try the little "tart" dish I used for their veggies when I first got the piggies and they didn't eat quite that much yet. It might be a bit harder to drag and tip.

Re: Food Bowls?

I think that is adorable! Coco does that too, but with his pigloo. He goes in and turns it and pushes it around until it is where he wants it! Usually near food, but sometimes just for fun!

Thanks guys!

I think that pigs are so cute!

Re: Food Bowls?

We bought a three sided dish at a home store. It was 5 dollars and my pigs can't knock it over. It works very well and has a little thing in the middle to pick it up by. http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos...94/ppuser/7628

Re: Food Bowls?

A bowl like this, but in a different size would work good.

Very bad idea. These are not good for guinea pigs. Is it made by 8-in-1 and is it made from alfalfa and honey?

Re: Food Bowls?

I have one of those automatic (drop feed) feeder bowls that can be attached to the side of the cage. It's suspended in the air so they don't step in it plus I can put lots of food in it. I got mine at Petsmart. It's called a Super Pet Gravity Bin Feeder.

Since I have 3 boars, I do have a couple other heavy bowls with pellets also. I plan on eventually replacing these with the Bin Feeders.

Re: Food Bowls?

I use a feeder that attaches to the grids, like a small rabbit feeder, this works best, you can fill it from the top and they eat out of the bottom and this way very little is wasted. I also have used heavy bowls.

I don't know about there but here in Ontario we can get these at the $1 store in a smaller size. We use them for our bun's and now our soon to be piglets.

Re: Food Bowls?

Small ceramic cat bowls from dollar and fifty cent store work fine. (reticently, real dollar stores stock up with only junks so I only go to dollar and half stores.)
